Colour is up to the designer. We often use black and green in our company logo - see the attached style guide. The colours should not clash with what we already have, other than that please be creative and balance youthfulness and being taken seriously. #1 - thanks for the submission although this isn't what we're looking for at all. This logo needs to communicate a global initiative that is engaging youth and leaders to design and build cities for the future. It's not meant to operate within the sphere of entertainment, it's thought leadership and a call to action for leaders to embrace youth as active citizens to co-create a prosperous future for humanity. These are very lofty goals!

Here's a short narrative for the project:
Why do so many cities treat youth as villains and liabilities when they need young people in order to prosper and thrive? 16 to 29 year olds represent 25% of the global population and most now live in cities.
What would happen to your city young people decided to move to a better city? Imagine losing their vibrancy, creativity, innovation, tech savvy and connectedness....their youthfulness!
Youth are the competitive advantage of mega-cities. They give more than they take. But they have a choice.
Where are the best cities for youth to live work and play in? And how do we make them even better?
“YouthfulCities” is a global initiative that ranks the top 100 cities from a youth perspective then co-creates ways to engage young people and civic leaders in city building.

#2-9 Thanks Anna for your submission, however this isn't what we're looking for either. These submissions seem very young, our target audience is 16-29 year olds who are typically working or in school full-time, they might be married with children, they could be running their own businesses, or engaging in civic leadership. The other audiences we're trying to engage are executive leadership and government.
#7 seems to showcase kids jumping for joy - but we're looking for something quite serious. This initiative will collect data on 1 Billion people in the most populous cities on each continent and develop real tools to design better cities for the future. Our brand needs to speak to the magnitude and ambition of our goals. Thank you for your efforts so far.

Thanks for you submissions designers. Unfortunately we're just not getting the type of wordmarks and logos that are interesting for us. For some reason there's been a huge emphasis on:
- green & black
- globe
- cityscape
- anthropomorphic figures
I'd like to see more thought given to the font choice, more elegant colour schemes, youth in this situation are aged 16-29. They are hip, urban, leading trends... I'll upload some work that I admire for your reference.

Think more about the value that youth bring to cities - vibrancy, energy, global connectedness, tech savvy, creativity. These are the qualities of youthful cities. Everyone already knows what a city is, and that youth are people - we don't need to showcase skylines or people in the logo. Please try to focus on the qualities that young people embody.

Thanks everybody for your submissions. I'm still hoping for submissions that communicate abstract qualities like:
vibrancy
energy
connectedness
global
creativity
power
vitality
hope for the future
urgency
Please don't make any more green & black submissions, they don't automatically work within our brand ;)

check out Russian avant-garde graphic design - there is a sense of urgency and youth that is undeniable!

Designers; please keep working through the typography. The wordmark should be just as powerful as a stand alone feature, as it is with the logo. I encourage you all to have a look at Russian avant garde graphic design, youth/ communist propaganda - the style exudes the enthusiasm, energy, direction, urgency and boldness we're looking for. Think about emblems and stamps as a launching pad.

Keep 'em coming!
