What We Do
We sell renaissance costumes and medieval clothing, as well as jewelry, toys, swords, daggers, armor, and more. We are looking to open an online store to sell high-quality merchandise (not cheap Halloween costumes). May also be interested in steampunk or colonial period clothing and jewelry.
Industry
Retail
Color Preferences
The site will likely be earth-tones or green-gray's, so we would like to see the font in a gold.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Fonts that would be of interest are Old English or block-printing type fonts. BD Renaissance font has been attached as an example of a font that could lend itself well to this project.

Discussion

#1 - Decent, though we would like to see more emphasis on 'Old Renaissance' and less emphasis on 'Ye' and 'Shop'. Additionally, we would like to see a layout that is more horizontal than vertical. This will also need to be able to be reduced down to fit onto a business card. Thank you for your submission!

Logo Designer
Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank a variety of designs to get a variety of entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked 1st - 10th. We like to earn points.
~~ After your contest closes it will enter Judging phase. You can re-rank designs in Judging.
~~ While in Judging, the designer ranked in first place can submit revisions

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

#4 - Looks better. Try making the shield wider. Try placing the Ye to the left of Old and try a thicker font?

#3 - Beautiful decoration. Would like to see Old and Renaissance have greater importance and would like to see the words larger and lay over the top of the graphic instead of within. (Same comment to #5.) Also may need to be darker on white to show well on a business card.

To all: Would like to see what you can do the font we attached in the Contest Brief.

There is a draft of a concept we have worked up now uploaded to the Contest Brief. Please review for further direction on where we MIGHT like to see the logo go. Notice the kerning and word spacing. The logo we threw together is too yellow and we're open to different elements (shields for the medieval, gears for the steampunk, etc.)

When we say we would like to see the words "over the top of the graphic", we were unclear. "Over the top" meant "layered on top of"; not literally above and/or below. As in, try using the graphics as a background instead of an element around which to fit the words.

#7 - Please try the font you have here with the layout we've attached under the Contest Brief. Then place the graphic in the background for a more layered look.

#13 - Was a surprise to us and a pleasant one at that. Just goes to show we're open to designs outside our own little notions about where we want the logo to go.This design speaks to renaissance in a banner-esque way that doesn't TRY to be a banner. Nice work here.

#9 - Nice gold. The capital "Y" is a little hard to read in this font, and the "O" has a funny tail. Not sure about the use of black in the block letter.

Keep the ideas coming! Good work, folks!

#16 - Nice to see more air around the tagline; good thought. Liked the larger text however?

#15 - Shield looks good. May be time to lose the block 'R'.

Thank you for your submissions!

#16 - Would like to see the text a little brighter and more space between Ye and Old. Maybe try Ye smaller?

#24 - Great look. Good job making the letters sound out. Would like to see the sharp points removed from the shield and maybe some other color variations.

#20 - Font looks better. Don't care for the scroll or banner graphics however. This design was dropped in twice, so we moved one of them to 'not interested'.

Thank you all! Keep the ideas coming!

#32 & #30 - NICE! Love the border. Would like to see some other colors. Folks seem to be gravitating to red here, so maybe a red, but other colors as well. Font--while appropriate--is a little unreadable. Please try a different font in here. At the same time, we also really like the little curl coming off the h in Shop, so if we can manage to change the font while keeping that curl, that's a bonus. ;o]

#29 - Please try a different font. The block letter isn't working. The shield is fine and the way you encased the word Renaissance works well. Good work.

#27 - Same here, please try a different font. We want to lose the block capital R.

#33 - Better. Have any other layouts occurred to you?

#37 - Nice concept. Font has a few too many "beads" popping off it and may deter readability at "business card" size.

Thank you all for your submissions! Almost there!

#41 & #43 - Looks good. Shield looks better. Font is nice and readable. Open to other suggestions.

#44 - Try making Ye Old and Shop the same font as what you had earlier (like #29.) Renaissance looks nice, may need to be a little brighter to pop off the shield more.

#47 - Looks good. Prefer the gradation. Please introduce a beast-clawing-at-the-air graphic behind the sign (or something similar.)

#49 - Nice start. A little too much unused banner in this one. Nice use of color.

#50 - Nice. Not quite as colorful as the last one, but certainly clean and interesting. Will pass it before the crew for discussion. Thank you for the new concept!

#55 - looks great. very whimsical. nice font choice.

#59 - actually meant for the beast element to be placed behind the WHOLE logo.. not just behind the lettering.

Thanks for your ideas!

#61 - the brighter was better. thank you.

#62 - solid concept. would like to see this in a red and w the oval larger. thanks

#64 - not sure how this is different from #47

Thank you all for participating in our contest! We are in the process of placing the top four logos in front of a focus group to get a sense for what resonates most with the public. The top logo emerging from that process will be the logo to be selected. Stay tuned and thank you all for your efforts and ideas. Hugely appreciated.

#33 - Focus group testing is revealing #33 to be the people's choice. Would like to see this same design using some different fonts. #61 is using a particularly nice font. Open to other ideas.

Concern with this design: Getting "Period Merchandise" to show up on a business card. However, this is an element people have commented upon and seem to appreciate.
