I think this kind of a logo may have potential. The text is a little choppy though, and the cutout of the wrestler probably isn't ideal. It's mostly the hand that needs work. I like the simplicity of the concept, and prefer the color of #15.
I understand the most common or direct way to go is within silhouettes, I've been through some wrestling logos and they rely mainly on this, but here I provided another approach with #20 and #21. I think simplicity and "less is more" is an opportunity in the matter, a direct message with (not so) hidden concept. The hand grabbing the "play" button offers a simple message within the boundaries of your business, keeping in mind it can still be polished. Let me know what you think!
I like these two much better than the first. I think I like #21 best of these choices. The fingers need to be arranged in a more natural way, but I think this could work. I like the shadow, under the play button. I'm not sure if the words should be the same height as the play button, or if it looks better this way. Much better!
I think there's some improvement in #29, polished fingers and details. Not quite convinced about the typeface yet.
#27 is the same position as before, I think the difference in height bewteen the button and the text makes for some dynamic reading, but it can be arranged quite easily.
#28 is another proposal with the acronyms, I'm not very convinced about using them, but I can manage a way to implement them in a more harmonic style.
#31 Show the same concept I've been working, but with some different style. The button feels solid and the hand has some more closure. Different typeface reflects the solid proposal, with a minimum inclination to the right, adding a dynamic feel to it.
I provided a different approach with #51, similar in concept of those with silhouettes. I think it manages to resolve the simplicity and the direct message altogether, keeping the digital style, but also functional in 1 plain color.
These two are very good. I like them a lot, and so do others. I would like to see the wrestlers polished up a little, or at least that's what I thought before I took another look. I seemed to recall the figures looking a little thin with big feet, almost like bird-like dinosaurs, but on second look it's not that apparent. Maybe there's something that can be improved there, but this a very good concept.
It's also important to me that the logo works on both a white background and on a black background Could you put this on a black background so I can see what it looks like?
I really would like to see this on black. I can picture the text being white, the wrestlers, being the grey from the text and the play button still being red. Would that be too much trouble?
I'm working on some changes and positions, also to be able to work in both white and black with the same colors and gradients. I'll be updating as soon as possible!
#80 White background #78 Black background #79 Black background with white negative space
I completly changed the inside negative space to a more optimized form of wrestling silhouettes, with polished notches and optical illusions (dividers). I tried this version without expanding beyond the borders of the button, fitting right inside.
Changed the "Wrestling" typeface to a more dynamic approach, while maintaining the rest calm and simple, providing interesting balance between both.
Color is the same, but could be brighter for the black background version.
#78 and #80 are both incredible. The only concern is the position you have in the play button. It's VERY similar to the USA Wrestling logo, and it's actually a move that isn't allowed in the most popular style of wrestling in the United States. It is a super exciting move though. If there was another position that worked, and conveyed a similar level of excitement, that would be even better.
Ok, sorry, I really didn't know much about it, just took an example from that move. And now that i see the USA logo I understand it (seems they got it wrong?) I didn't quite want to copy other designers choice of move, I know there's a limited number of fitting wrestling silhouettes, but I'll try to find another plausible solution! If you'd like a specific move let me know.
Any thoughts on typefaces, details or positioning?
I think we're getting down towards the end of this and I am pretty sure this will be my final request. This is a good pose, but I would like to find something different is we can.. and I'd like to see 4 final versions.
- 1 with lighting on white. - 1 with lighting on black. - 1 with only black, white, red and no light, on white. - And one with only black, white and red and no light, on black.
Here's a link to a lot of great shots.. just browse the photo galleries and there's a lot of good stuff there. It's hard for me to tell if they can be worked into a good silhouette.
I uploaded this new entries with the proposed position, I think it was one of the most solid ones to use, but still not that easy to simplify. At this level it can still work for bigger purposes, but with a few less lines can be much simpler. I'm willing to provide further modifications.
The old figure looks better, but I'd still like to try to make a different one work. I think if we rotated the figure clockwise, it might be more recognizable. Right now, it's a little hard to identify. Is there any more you can do to make it more recognizable?
I submitted my final entries, with the old figure modified as the prime one. It has a bit different positioning, furthering the distance with the USA logo, and tipping some segments outside the button.
I also sent you other revisited proposals, some previously seen, as a showcase of my work with you. Thanks for you feedback in this contest!
