That sounds good. Logo Tournament will not allow me discuss additional work until after the project is complete here. After that, you can select me to do a 1-on-1 project and we can go from there!
Hi Janis - I would like to select you as the winner. I am hoping you will work with me to get a variety of versions of the two logos you created - and if what I envision goes beyond the prize money, then we can do a direct hire. Will that work for you? I am thinking of both logos with full and social media versions with two of the color palette versions - one the bolder and one the more pastel. I still need to make a final decision about the upper case v. lower case. I've used logos a lot over my work life and having those expanded options is always very helpful. Let me know if this works for you and I'll close out the contest. Huge thanks for all the work you've put in.
I'm going to sit with it. Can we try a brown that's somewhere between the lighter brown of the earlier logo and this one. I know it's a good match with the blue but it's just a bit dominant - I'm hopeless - but I'll get there1
Thank you for the side by side. Please take a break! I'm trying to move into a new office today. ;) When you come back, one last request would be if you could play with making the "words" be in lower case. I so appreciate your time.
#339 I can put the emphasis on 'Words' or 'Borders', whatever way you like. Also, can continue to work on the rock cairn/speech bubbles to make them more organic.
If you took #302 and #305 and backed off how dark they are just a bit and then made complementary versions of the two different logos? And yes, I like the fonts in the "flag" version - just not quite as curvey on the blue! Thanks!
Not crazy! : ) You like the font here for 'BORDERS'? (not the curvy font of 'Words Across'. Do you like this color scheme or the other one best? I could probably use a little of both.
Going back to this one - I'm playing with the idea of possibly having both these logos as an option (if that requires extra pay we can definitely negotiate that). Do you think you could bring some of the font elements here to the cairn logo and align a version of this one and that with some the same color scheme - I think they are similar enough to be the same brand but would allow for me to have creativity with both options. Or is that crazy?
Hi Janis - thanks for playing with the cairns - can you show me how they look in these social media versions? also I'd like to see this version without the straight line that's bisecting the square. Many thanks!
Hi Janis - thank you for you attention to this project. I like how you are experimenting with the other logo - but let's focus on the first logo design which I still like better. I like the original color scheme too - but would love to see you play around with the speech bubbles so they are either more evocative (abstract) or more dynamic. For example, I like the paintbrush effect on some of the logos submitted which I think you can see. Let me know if this guidance is clear.
#324 I changed out the font for 'Words Across' and used upper/lower case mixed. On this one I flipped the shaded area to the right side for better balance; there was more negative space above the two 'ss' s in 'Across' : )
This design is compelling as well. My daughter said, it almost looks like a flag. I'm not sure I like the name completely capitalized and I think at least "words across" needs to be a bit thicker in the font. I wonder if you can use shading with a line that travels from the bottom corner of the lines to the opposite top corner to give the idea of the journey communication makes. I love the desert palette, not just because I live in the high desert, but because I work in global health settings and with colleagues who are dedicated to refugee interpreting and helping those in the camps. So much vast empty desert space with people who desperately need to be able to speak and be heard. Somehow this logo gets at the feeling - though i don't know why. :)
#284 I'll continue to think about ideas that are different from what I have already shown. I'll be away from my design desk a good part of tomorrow, but will work on this project as soon as I return.
I guess I would ask you what you would do with the business name "words across borders" if you didn't have any of my suggestions re: cairns and mountains. Same desert color scheme but your own creativity let loose. :)
Hi Janis - thank for this and the other social media versions. You are definitely going through as a top finalist. I have ideas I'd like to explore but haven't wanted to abuse your time in this stage of the competition. :)
Thank you! I like a lot of your variations - but I'm ranking other designers as well with my other top choices so I can't put them all at the to. ;)I like the brown. For the tagline - the maybe only capitalize the Nothing - the rest can be lowercase.
#167 This one is the same as the 1st ranked design except I've changed the green to brown in BORDERS and cleaned up the lines a bit, making the bottom line a little thinner and straighter.
This is better - can we make the line between the words be thinner? And I don't like the green on Borders - not sure what would make it better - make use the brown? I appreciate your ideas!
I thnk the best thing wold be take out one of the mountain peaks and not have any of the green lines cut off on the edges - tThe cairn can centered more or moved to the other side if need be.
Hi there - thanks for all the ideas you've been sending in - it's a workday so it's harder for me to respond as often - I like how this one is shaping up - do you think you could show me how this could me made into a social media square logo - obviously simplified? No tagline.
Thank you for your feedback! I’ll explore ways to add mountain symbolism to the design. If you have any other requests please let me know.
Kind regards,
Janis
I like the experimentation! I looked at your portfolio. I thought your Momentum Fest is quite brilliant. Could you play with an evocation of mountains with the cairn or every cairns. For me the symbolize the waypoints of meaning that interpreters and translators both provide and have to follow when helping people cross cultural and linguistic divides.
