Catch a ride / hang on tight is the inspiration behind this athletic, sporty logo. Wanted to create something that would look great in all mediums (web, apparel even a sticker on the back of a boat). Nice to see another Wisconsinite on this site. Will the new logo be unveiled at the upcoming convention? Tried a few fonts, one formal and one fun.
I like it! Can you create a variation of it by keeping the W and ski rope, but ditching the red triangular shaped image? Put the text to the right. The red background image looks like a cup that a guy would wear to protect himself. Overall, though, I like the water W and handle. Don't like the script font in entry #15.
Ahoooo - Thanks for the interest and not the image I had in mind nor the image I want in my head the rest of the day. It's funny you get so close to your work, I only saw it as a patch or emblem. See what you think of this. I tried a few positions. Given the medium you could use multiple placements for the text. Would you try and get to a point of using only the icon? Icon would be really nice on apparel.
I really like entry #17. Yes, we would consider using just the icon part of the logo for apparel. It would be perfect. The W and the ski rope could certainly be easily identifiable with the Wisconsin Water Ski Federation.
What would it look like with the ski rope handle off of the W...just below the W instead of on it? Also, let's stay with two colors (blue and black or red and black). Can you make the W red? Several people I spoke to indicated their preference to stay with a red logo because of UW-Madison (Badgers) - cardinal red, I think, is the school color. I prefer blue, but I'm not the sole decision maker.
I was thinking about the different mediums you may use this and wanted to share with you a scaled back version that doesn't include gradients. The added depth is nice, but I think you'll see the icon will be still strong when you need to downplay for reproduction. See what you think. Thanks again for your interest. On a side note, if chosen I would provide any or all versions I've produced. One setup of your logo doesn't work for all mediums.
