sorry, the above comment was for entry #1. Entry #2 is simple and clean, but perhaps a little too generic. Entry #3 nicely works in some imagery about people, which is central for us, but in a way that is slightly unclear at first glance. Also like the use of light and an understated cross. our committee is meeting tonight, at which point we can probably offer more feedback.
#1 is strong, but the cross imagery could perhaps be clarified, or made more easily discernible?
#3 we like the creativity and the inclusion of people in the imagery, but again the image is not that clear (i.e., that its people). also could you try a version of this using the nice vibrant color scheme in #1?
Thanks for the ranking & additional feedback. Here is a design which uses some of the elements from the church building. #13 I'll get to wonk on some other designs based on your latest feedback. Thanks again, Don
thank you! our committee is impressed with your responsiveness to our comments! we like the clarity you've added to number 15, but perhaps the type could be made more interesting? we like the script for winnetka, and maybe something lighter and more elegant for script. thanks so much for your strong submissions!
Don, some among us like the image alongside the name, like you have in entry #13, can we try that with entry #14? Also, are there other color renderings to use with #13? It's attractive but also very orange. Thanks!
Yes, I can show the image to the left. I also agree that #13 does look a little orange. I am at my work computer right now (I was actually just browsing my script fonts on my work computer for you logo) I will show more revisions when I get back to my design computer approx. 6pm. Thanks for the feedback, Don
P.S. - I was also planning on showing some options on a colored background, if you were to use the new logo on a sign (for example) sometimes a color background is more attractive than a white background. Please let me know your thoughts on that.
we continue to like the approaches taken in #33 and #14, but one note a group member had is that the rectangular color pattern resembles stained glass windows. We do have them at the church, but not necessarily in a pattern like the one in the logo. Is there a design concept that might use the colors and approach, but perhaps without the rectangular shapes? something diffuse? not sure what we're getting at here, but perhaps your good design instincts will explore this drift. Thanks!
Entry #34 does a nice job of something subtly different, as the colors resemble butterfly wings more than windows. That's nice Christian imagery too, thanks!
thanks, Don! Our favorite continues to be #34. I see in the details some very nice shading and outlines to each color shape, which doesn't necessarily show up on a small logo. Is there a way to accompany the nice shading you've done with another copy that perhaps has subtle outlines to the color shapes? This would make the cross a little more visible, but not too dominant.
As I said, another feature that's lovely about this logo is the butterfly imagery. Is there a way to make the butterfly imagery perhaps even a bit more pronounced?
thanks, for your excellent work and your responsiveness!
one other note about #34, we much prefer the original purple you were using, rather than the more pink color that is used in #34. the purple will certainly help us with other design elements, perhaps more than the pink. thanks!
Here are my latest revisions #52 & #53... I changed the pink back to the purple & I flared out the shapes a little more to give it a little more of the butterfly look. Let me know if you would rather have me remove the shading in the colors to simplify it & make it easier to reproduce at smaller sizes. Thanks, Don
we have some further suggestions for #53. first, can we try one without a script font for "Winnetka"? (the butterfly approach)
second, can we go with an elegant yellow/gold in place of the orange?
third, can we see a separate version without the color shading?
fourth, can we see a separate version with just two colors, perhaps blue and green or blue and yellow?
we also have a resurgence of interest in #13, is there any way to make this more spirited? hard to describe the mixed feelings about it, but I think the building feature feels too stoic, even though it's a great representation of our building. the grey felt a little too lifeless, the orange feels a little too orange. sorry for our inarticulate feedback.
