What We Do
We are developing a new type of Job search engine that will incorporate the look and feel of todays social networks and "web 2.0" websites, with innovative features that make searching for a job quicker, easier, and more fun.
Industry
Internet
Color Preferences
We're not open or closed to any colors, but the colors should fit with the color themes used in the layout design (attached).
Our Ideas & Additional Information
First of all the name is completely ambiguous. It has no real meaning behind it, just a fun, web 2.0 sounding name that allows us to create a strong branding package behind it. We want the logo to have a very fun, web 2.0 look to it. When asking people what they thought of the name, one interesting piece of feedback we received was that "it sounds like the name of a creature...like something cute, but odd looking". It got us thinking that having some sort of memorable creature in our logo could be very useful in building our brand. Doesn't need to be super complex, just memorable and unique.

It's worth noting that we purposefully did not go with a name that included words directly relate to job search (Job, Work, career, etc.) So our logo should not have an obvious tie either.

Also, a big part of our user experience has to do with the act of "jumping" from one result to the next. (Similar to how StumbleUpon works). So graphical representation of that may be useful somehow in the logo design....even if it's only hidden somewhere (logo's with hidden meanings are always interesting and clever!).

We're looking for something that is VERY memorable. We want Wibbr to one day be synonymous with Job search. We're looking for creative, out of the box, and fun logo designs.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank a variety of designs to get a variety of entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked 1st - 10th. We like to earn points.
~~ After your contest closes it will enter Judging phase. You can re-rank designs in Judging.
~~ While in Judging, the designer ranked in first place can submit revisions

So far the entries have included "animals" as the character. In the contest brief I mentioned that we we're looking for a creature. We're interested in seeing characters that are completely fictitious. (We made up our name, it really makes sense for the creature to be made up as well). It NEEDS to be unique and very memorable. We aren't looking for just another cute graphic of an animal...it needs to be something that people will remember.

Also, all designers should be sure to view the attached layout design to get an idea of our color scheme in order to make sure they colors they are using work w/ our design.

I want to give some direction here because the trend among the logos that are coming in is not what we're looking for. The logo's look too cartoonish. They look a bit "childish" (for lack of a better word). The character needs to fit well with a startup and should be more "stylized".

An example would be the character for Plancast: http://www.plancast.com. Although it's a penguin and we're looking for something ambiguous, it's a good example of the kind've style that we think works.

Another example is the Android logo:http://www.android.com/media/wallpaper/gif/android_logo.gif We're looking for a bit more detail, but it's certainly a stylized, memorable character.

And lastly, an example of a logo that we really like is the foursquare logo: http://j.mp/fRDNFh The type of font and colors they used look great and has a real web 2.0 feel to it. The design style of the character is great too.

Hope this gives you guy's some direction on what we're looking for.

Generally speaking, the logos we we're "not interested" in were because the character design was not what we were looking for. We've given a lot of direction on the type of character and the style of the character. If you haven't yet checked, we've also updated our brief and included a character design that we are encouraging designers to use because we really like it. Theres some ideas in the brief but we'd like to see some simple variations (small changes, not far from what we have, keep it simple...maybe just color, accents, shadows, etc...) as well as more creative variations (adding objects, maybe changing the shapes, facial expression, etc..) Please read the updated brief for more info.

***Also, we've asked LogoTournament to extend this contest to give designers more time to submit their entries based on this update. Hoping to hear back from them soon with an extension!

A note to all designers: We're seeing more and more entries come in with a tan color scheme. We're not a fan of tan as the color for our logo so please stay away from it. I think tan was originally used because it's a secondary color in our design layout, but to us it seems washed out and will fade too much in our layout. We're encouraging some other color schemes to be used, but BE SURE you check out the attached layout design beforehand to see if you're logo will fit. (Example: a bright yellow logo would look terrible in our design...nowhere in it is yellow used, and it wouldnt fit at all with our color scheme)
