we can certainly change color of a particular direction and make that for each 'department' and we can put names of departments on other sides of the central box.

-The horizontal compass lines remain, but are extended to the sides to add more emphasis.

Love this. Can you explore removal of the "halo" or experiment with arrows of some sort.
