AI & Web

Matsuo lab at the University of Tokyo, A. K. A. WEBLAB, is a research laboratory which heavily focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Web Mining. This is the second run of WEBLAB's logo tournament contest. The person in charge is different but you don't hesitate to submit even if you submitted in another contest.

My personal favorite color is blue since it is a sing of knowledge. However, we are open for all kinds of colors as long as it matches to the logos.

Since our laboratory's themes are artificial intelligence and Web mining, it's better to embed these two meanings in the logo. maybe you think they are totally different but the truth is, they have commons. "network" is one of them. Brain has a network of synapse, Web is a network of pages. Therefore, it might be a good idea to use network structure in the logo. Second common point is "grow." Brains grow to enhance our intelligence. The Web also grows to cover more information (knowledge). Maybe a "tree" can be used as a metaphor of growth. they are just ideas. We are quite open for all kinds of possibilities.

They are simple but modern, elegant and having deep meaning.
