This is going to be fun...already have 4 names thought out an each one is already an existing company woohoo let the games begin

I see a small problem to this contest. Does that name + logo chosen work has to be able to enlist the .com domain?

What if UD decides a name + logo, anyone can enlist this by overriding the contest?

I see very risky. Or take the domain of high and designing the logo and do not waste time and earn money.

And if I want to present 20 proposals to register 20 domains so that if you like name and logo do not miss the contest because some "smart" is on?

I suggest names to what I do, but make a good logo before the name I know very risky.

Hi Moscow3000, what Bellido is trying top say is that there is no guarantee a domain name will be available for a name we come up with...and it is not incumbent on us to secure the domain name in the off chance we will win this contest.

If you decide on a name that has a domain name on hold by someone else...you would need to deal with the person or company who has the current rights to the domain name. Granted some of us have registered domain names that or may not be suitable company name for your company; however not all designers on here are in a position to secure a domain names.

My advice is to talk to admin (Tyler Owner of LT) and run 2 contest 750.00 for a company name and once that is over run a second contest for the actual design work another 750.00....

I think the best way is to look for a new domain name unheard available '.com', this to avoid the impression of forcing you to buy a domain that already but if you need to buy an existing domain name is your decision alone, should be given a new domain name or the condition of existing.

What if you like the name but not the logo? Would you ask all designer to design logo with my name? What will i get if i am not win the logo while the winner use my name? Or in other way?

Good Point Bugs......in this case with so much money at stake this really needs to be 2 contests.

I would suggest that CH should come up with the name first.

HI CH I WAS IN 2 CONTEST LIKE THIS ITS BEST IF YOU.

1.PICK THE TOP NAMES YOU LIKE BEST WORRY ABOUT THE LOGO LATER.
2.CHECK THE NAMES TO SEE IF THE .COM IS FREE OR IF YOU CAN BUY IT FOR A GOOD PRICE.
3.CHECK TO SEE IF THE NAME CAN BE TRADEMARK
4.IF THE DESIGNER WITH THE WINNING NAME CANT DO A LOGO YOU LIKE THEN HAVE ANOTHER CONTEST TO GET LOGO.
5.YOU SHOULD JUST WORRY ABOUT THE NAME 1ST.

I agree. Maybe split the prize in 2. 750 for company name and 750 for the logo. Maybe 3 days for Company name without ANY rank. At the end of day 3 you rank the names and 1st ranked becomes the Company name (first 750 awarded to winner). Then phase 2 starts (maybe 6 more days) using the winning name ($750).

Yes, this is becoming a real issue as more contest holders ask us for branding from the name on up. It can go very wrong (cp.'Excentris') or it can go smoothy (cp. 'Recon' then 'Rekon'). The latter example went well as the contest holder graciously held a second contest with the new name. I think you would find life much easier with two contests.:)

Are you interested in a domain name FULLY available or something that MAY BE it is for sale?
I mean some registrars hold domain names that could be for sale on a higher price than the regular 9.99$ tax.
Also do you have some guidances like:
"i wish that the name should be more focused on green part of the business rather than innovation / architecture"...
With such a short brief and the lack of communication you will not get the best from us.

Also, do you follow the 5letter domain rule or it may be as long as we could propose?

Please, some steps should be made in order to get a name...please clarify all above mentioned in order to continue this project successfully.

It would appear that we're going to have to be carefull/creative as (in England at least) domain name registration places seem to be registering all sorts of stuff for themselves and then holding them.

yes I know that i'm currently in first, but I think this could get a little tense if some feedback isn't given and if it's not decided one way or the other how to play it out.

My apologies for the domain names refered in my previous post, i actually didn't knew that some of them are owned by the submitting designers, anyway the questions, i would apreciate if the contest holder can answer them.

Many points that have been mentioned should be revised the contest holder.
Also, the contest holder seems to not be updating the ranks so often which should be something that he should do for such a big prize.

I agree, the name should be decided quickly because there is really no guarantee that the name is still available after the contest as domains get registered everyday.

I have made the contest holder aware that the name is taken, but he/she still seems to like it.
I have made an alternate suggestion, they have gone with this one.
They are the CH and so one would have to assume, fully aware and responcible, i.e. they understand what they want and what they are doing and what that entails.

So why would LT need to step in?

CH why dont you come up with a few names and let designers take it from there? makes sense to me.
