This #68 design is very popular with me and the 2 folks I have solicited input from. All of us think it could be a winner but want to see some tweaks: 1) none of us really like the typography much. Block letters with a little style are nice, so not a huge change, but we'd like to see different fonts. 2) can we we see this colorized somehow? Rich colors (brown, deep blue, and deep green), not primary colors and not too bright. 3) in addition to colors can we see the single color done with different density of color (I don't know the design term for this, so I hope you know what I mean)
Thank you so much for the feedback. I am pleased that you like the design and would be happy to submit some revisions. I would however need to be moved to the first position in order to upload them, even if only temporarily.
One question when you say different density of color, do mean different shades of the same color family, such as lighter and darker green for example?
Here are a few font and color choices #78, #79, #80. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on these or if there is something else you would like to see? Best Regards, Faith
"different density" is best seen in entries #76 and 77 but I don't know the word for it. You sort of did it with #80, which is my favorite overall of the new images but still not there. I like the font of the word "watershed" the best in #78, but still would like to see other fonts. The font in #68 was not right, but had a more recognizable style than any of the new fonts, so perhaps going "block" as I suggested removed recognizability and style from the logo. Perhaps something just as uniquely recognizable as #68 but different, so I can see what others there are.
#78 is attractive for having multiple colors, with the blue and brown being just what I was thinking. However, now that I see it, I think the word "watershed" needs to be a different color. Perhaps just a darker version of the brown or blue that is already in the logo, but I also would like to see an image with a third color added (very dark green, perhaps).
#81 with browns, blue and green added to the word Watershed and the paddles. #82 with just greens and blues. #83 Lighter and darker blues, lighter and darker browns and green in the word Resort. Please let me know your thoughts on these and if any of the fonts work any better? Best Regards, Faith
If you can see the comments from BeRo in the "friends feedback" section, those comments came from my web designer, whose style and input I trust completely but I am going to disagree with his input on the font (I have never cared for script fonts). So, using some of his ideas, here's what I'd like to see:
1) Start with #84 and change the oars and "Resort" to be the brown from the right side of the canoe in #84 but then make the canoe look like the green one in #82. Also, darken the right side of the canoe so it has a similar luminosity to the canoe in #84. It does make more sense to me that a canoe could be painted but oars are usually brown (natural wood), not that this has be literal, but it makes sense.
2) Regarding shape, I think the oars seem slightly more imposing than they should, especially now that the canoe is 2-toned. They should probably have shorter handles with a larger "blade" (the part that goes in the water). There are 2 photos here that show some standard canoe oars: http://www.midwestguest.com/2009/03/catalog-canoe-delivery-from-minnesota.html.
3) The final thing I'd like to see is this: a single oar (modified to look more like the canoe oars pictured) resting across the canoe.
4) can you inject a different logo. The #84 logo is my personal favorite, but I'd like to see similar one(s) but slightly different styles just to see if any others click with me.
I think we can close this contest today if your schedule allows for these changes. Thanks, Tim
Thanks for the changes, Faith. The colors are perfect and the paddle is a huge improvement. We finally realized it was the "country club crest" feel that was created by the oars that was off a bit. The new paddle is great. Although Ben would like to see if it can be somewhere other than floating. He thinks horizontally across the canoe. I think it may disappear if it overlaps the other colors. But can you try it another way so we can see?
Also, I've made a final decision to go with the font in #82, but same colors as in #85
Thanks, Tim
ps- I'm not just dangling a carrot here, but if I declare you a winner today, how quick does the eps artwork transfer happen? I have a print ad deadline tomorrow that I need to make with this logo.
Let me know what you think of this one #86. I angled it down a bit more. Honestly, with it horizontal, you lose too much of it behind the canoe. But if you still want to see that, let me know.
Also, as soon as you declare a winner, I can upload the files, it's usually pretty immediate. I will be out for about 20 minutes, but will check back then to see where we are with everything.
