Color Preferences
Simplicity rules. I do like Blue for its tranquility, peace, calm; or Green for its fertility, growth and naturalism; or Purple for its wisdom & spirituality; perhaps White for its purity, and/or black for its clarity and lack of pretense. Nothing showy, pretentious or shocking.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Looking for simplicity, soulfulness, uniqueness. Our brand will ideally be no more than 2-3 colors, easily recognizable when reduced to just black on white. Our logo will be attached as a emblem on proprietary products for the backyard (firepits, fountains, chimes, bird feeders, etc.). I very much like the shape of the letter W for Walden, and have played with an emblem or shield shape. Also like the simple shape and promise of an acorn. Besides the "W', the word WALDEN itself should dominate the logol, leaving "Backyards" to act perhaps more as a descriptor. No need to include LLC in the brand, I think.

Designers please note:
While we want color in the logo, we'll ultimately want the logo to look good even when it's just black on white (or vice-versa).
The tagline is only submitted for your reference, not to be included in the logo itself (as the tagline may change from time-to-time)
We're going to want the file in .jpg as well.
Good luck - and we're looking forward to seeing your good work!

Thank you for the first entries, folks. In general, I'm thinking we need to go more masculine and bold than many of the first entries. I very much like clean, bold, natural, strong, simple lines. The first rankings will reflect that, as well as the fact that I like the W and the word Walden to dominate, with Backyards secondary but still obvious.

Some good work, folks. We're thinking the mark will be used often as a medallion or shield on products, where the W (in a box, shield or medallion?) may be the very dominant feature like #20 and others. The word Walden is important as well, and so that's why #11 is of interest, and the bold font also has appeal. For what it's worth, I experimented weeks ago with a shield, vaguely the shape of an acorn, with the top portion in black with Walden reversed-out, under that the word Backyards bent to form (perhaps screened out black on white), and under that a very bold W which dominated the mark and fit the shape of the body of the acorn. But I only tell you this to let you know some features that are of interest, not to bias or limit you in any way. Thank you for your continued efforts and I'm getting excited to see our brand coming to life!

Getting closer to the mark, folks!

We're getting there, just a little over a day left and we still have a little work to do. I'm thinking we need to work on the shape of the medallion/shield. I want it to look strong and yet not overly pretentious or regal. Want to avoid looking like a university shield. More natural and timeless while making sure that our W is stylized somehow with a unique natural element like the leaf or acorn. Please remember: strong, simple, humble, natural, timeless. You'll notice that I quickly set aside anything that's too feminine or comtemporary.

I like where we're headed. The acorn shield is nice and I also like the strong and timeless fontstyle of #72.
