I really like #70, problem is, it's to close to something that already exists. There is an outdoor blogger/IG account call 'The Outbound'. https://www.theoutbound.com/ Way to similar, but it's a great concept for sure. Can we tweak the concept enough to ensure it's originality?
Thanks for pointing this out to me. I do think that I can come up with a way to differentiate this. Would you still want to see this reworked concept as a divided monogram like on entry #70? Or should I play with its elements separately?
Honestly i'm not sure. The Outbound logo has always been a personal favorite of mine. I like the concept as long as you can differentiate it enough so that it doesn't appear to infringe on their concept. Playing with the elements separately is also an interesting direction.
#127 looks like we are headed in the right direction. Can you square it up (True north and south) and add additional compass elements to it to get us further away from the outbound logo. It's still to close of a representation of that.
Working a small True north/south/east/west needle off the the top/bottom/sides but staying outside the current circle might work well. Give an old world compass feel. Keeping the current version with the off access focal point of the cross but bringing in the true compass directions outside the circle. make sense? hard to explain
It makes perfect sense. I worked on other versions before I saw your last post, but I'm working on this one right now, and will post it within the next couple of minutes.
Ok, yah. #141 is getting there. Something about the circle though that is throwing it off for me a bit still. Can we work some other old world compass elements into it. Maybe break up the circle like you did in #70... I'm admittedly still working to create distance from the other logo.
There we go, we're getting there. I gotta run out tonight but will be back around in the morning. I'd like to see if we can get away from the star effect in the middle and go more solid color on that. Can we take a look at what this looks like when applied to the more traditional straight up and down look like #139?
#147 - I'm really liking this concept as it develops. I see why you took the mountains out due to space. Can we try to work them back into the design? Maybe even leaving out the dots on 1/4 of the design or on both sides opposite each other. I think it would look good with some color depth within the compass as well.
Good morning! Thanks for the follow up. I just posted a slew of new variations. I have to note that I did try an option where I cut out 1/4 of the dotted line on opposite sides and it simply looked too weird. I managed to get the mountain back in without a hitch.
Please let me know your thoughts on these new ones.
Ok, now we're talking. These look great. I'll grab some time this afternoon to review in more depth and see where we are at. Thank you for playing all in with me.
Sure thing. I want you to be happy with your new logo, and I'm having fun working on it. If you need any more variations and/or adjustments, just say the word.
Thanks for all your help. I think this is almost there. I'd like to work on a couple little things but we'll do that in the selection phase. I've got limited time today, but I'll be on and active tomorrow and Tuesday and hopefully we can get this wrapped up early.
Ok, my apologies. Things have gotten a little busy on my end. I like what we got going on #155 and #157. Can we remove the shaded background colors on #155. I'd like to move towards a green that stands out more also. Maybe a dark grey, lime green combination...
Alright thanks. These variations look really great. I'm very happy with where we have ended up with this. I've got some time this afternoon to look through and wrap everything up. How many of the color variations do I get when we finish up? I like what you did with #183 a lot as well. Looks like I'll have endless color options for shirts/hats etc. I really appreciate your work and efforts.
You can get as many color variations as you wish, within the reasonable. Like you said, it's good to have a variety for the different uses in which you'll apply it. When we've selected a final version, just let me know which versions you'll be needing, and I'll be more than happy to provide them to you :)
So a final version would be the basic black and white? and then we add color variations? Would #176 and #182 be considered different versions, one of which we need to settle on?
No, they're basically variations of the same concept. If you want to choose black and white as the winning version, that'd be alright by me. Then we can add to that all the color versions you need.
