Preserving the history and legacy of View Park, CA.

View Park Conservancy is a historical society that aims to preserve the rich history and legacy of View Park, CA through preservation, community outreach and research.

Green, Black, Grey, Yellow, Red, Purple, Blue, White.

View Park was most recently declared eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. This project will be to design the historic district signage that will be hung around the neighborhood.

There are 2 creative directions to explore:

1) Typographical Sign -- The header should read "View Park" with a subheader that reads "Historic District." You may also create a sign that reads "Historic View Park," with the word "Historic" smaller in size than the word "View Park." Regardless, the sign should feel timeless. Something that is unique but will stand the test of time and always stand out. We want to be cautious not to get into a world where the sign looks "old."

2) Pictorial Sign -- View Park is known for its amazing views of the city and tall palm trees that line our major streets. From several points in the neighborhood, one can see Spanish and Mid-Century Modern rooftops along with picturesque city views. The second creative idea is to design a sign that best captures this by designing around some literal pictures of the neighborhood. See the attached photos of the neighborhood. Also attached is a neighborhood advertisement from the 1930s. A modern (but timeless) re-creation of this advertisement into a sign is another idea for this direction. Particularly the font.
