#59 - this is a fun series, and #59 is my favorite of the lot. Although good logos have to catch you immediately, I find that I have to also let them grow on me, so I'm putting this at num. 4 right now, but want to sleep on it... Thanks!!!

no problem , i just noticed while you were ranking , i was still uploading some other new options , thats a total of 10 different options and styles.

i would be glad if any of them you found growing on you.

would wait for your feedback if any to work on it.

best regards,

kareem

Thanks Kareem - I noticed that you were uploading, too. I'll give you my first reactions now, but let me sleep on them so that I can give you something more thought through in the morning. First responses...

#59 is still my favorite - I like that the geometry is simple and playful, and that the little extra complexity comes in mixing the colors but leaving the geometry simple (that's why I like it better than #58).

Also, I'm noticing after 60+ entries how many have big, bold emblems, like you might put on a big sign that people have to read from the highway. But that's not what's needed for a venture fund. So when I compare #56 & #57 to #59, I prefer the smaller and slightly more detailed #59... #56 & #57 feel too much like that they'd be on that big sign

#61 & #62 are too complex and busy I think

#54, #55, #60, #63 - I'm mixed - some things I like, but can also identify in each why they might not be right for us. want to sleep on those, though...

Thanks for your interest in our logo's contest and for all the great choices so far!

No problem , thats my job , i got to see things from many different creative prespectives and generate them into something real.

from those above you feel your mixed up with, my personal favourite would be #54 , its very corporate and works for a venture fund , and for having branches in other countries, you can always keep the same identity / symbol and change the color prefrences , reffering to a country from another region eg: asia.

as for #59 , its like you say, both complex, serious and playful.

as you have noticed its a " v " and " e " , as the initials of van edge.

and as i said, you can change those color prefferences and use red and dark grey for asia branch for example and another for one in another content.

the good thing about it , is you can read the letters , as well, you can see it as an iconic / symbol shape of on its own as well.

anyway if you want me to try different color options on that one , or if you got something on mind you want me to add to let you see how it would feel on another branch of yours , feel free to suggest on me and i will throw at you the different versions of that same one growing on you to test it.

best regards,

kareem

How are you doing ? Hope you are doing great. I thought of doing a refine for the one you chosed.

So entry #80 is the better refined version of #59. As you could notice , i made a slight change to the " e " to make it look more smoother and the edges i made them more round and smoother as well , so over all i retained the same look , but made it look more simpler and fresh.

Hope you like this better refined version.

#81 , is just a sample for you , on what i meant by changing color prefrences to reffer to other branches of same group in other countries.

Waiting your feedback if any.

Best Regards,

Kareem

Hi Kareem - thanks for the variations and your comments. Yes, I like the refinements in #80, so I'll replace #59 with that in the rankings. And I appreciate your throwing in the Shanghai variation #81 - helpful to see that.

Also, I'm starting to thin some of these out. Nice designs - I liked something in each of them - but with new entries coming in I want to clear out some of the entries that I can now see will not make the final cut.

#55 - I like the concept and the design, but as an old graphics guy (I've been in CG forever), I tend to associate a pixel look with older graphics. Also, since so much of digital media is now about interactivity and social connections, the emphasis on anything CG related as a defining element feels dated, at least to me.

#63 - nice simple design, just doesn't say much to me. a bit generic.

#57 - taking it out as a too big and bold, like a highway sign, per previous conversation.

Thanks again Kareem!

No problem , thats my duty to try my best to make you reach a satisfactory point about a certain logo and something conveying your message and vision you have on mind.

If there is anything i can do , please do not hesitate to ask me , or any variations regarding colors , fonts , vertical , horizontal deal of a logo or any remarks at all.

Are you looking for a symbol that does not have to nesseccary relate to anything ? but looks good ? i have read the remarks you made on ranked #1 and #2 to figure out what you liked and disliked and vision the direction you are most likely favouring.

I would like to hear from you what else you might be looking for , so i can try for you other new entries in that direction, i would be glad to.

Best Regards,

Kareem

Hi Kareem - thanks for all the variations. As you work with these, one thing to watch out for is that the strong vertical in-between the boxes is turning the "V" into an "M". This design would work better if the "V" read more strongly without the competing interpretation as an "M". You can see this most strongly on #97 just because the graphic itself is so bold. Thanks!

How are you doing ? Hope you are doing great , i just noticed as you were posting this comment , i was already uploading some new entries and options.

For your concern about #97 , i tweaked it and refined it so that it never looks like an " M " or read as it by any means in #105.

Would you please tell me what colors you would favour to see the logo in more ? it being against the red background makes it look different then white with color variations , or you still want both ?

That would be a great help to make me focus on showing things to you against the colors that makes you feel more comfortable around with.

Would wait your feedback on the new entries and this tweaked version and the colors you want to see a specific version you favoured in.

Best Regards,

Kareem

Hi Kareem,

#103 is promising - as the contest evolves, we are leaning toward simple treatments (you can see that I'm doing some re-ranking this morning based on all 3 of us partners coming together on this). More variations on this theme, or with similarly simple, clean design will be your best shot...

Thanks!

#148 is a clever design with the repetition of the V element at the end of the word, but the type ends being too delicate - a combination of the italics, weight, and the swoosh design element. the weight and simplicity of #103 will be a stronger direction

#182 - Hi Kareem - I just saw #182 and you're on to something there. What I like is it does says something about pixels, but without the "pixel-look", which is dated. Your strongest entry so far - worth working on this to see how far you can get it. Thanks!

ok will do so now, Thanks

#235 #236 #237 #238 - very interesting approach - although in NA the "Chevron" logo is so widespread that there is an unfortunate similarity here - that was the first thing I thought of in seeing these treatments. Also, with this treatment I think the Van & Edge will need a little separatation - the treatment of the "E" makes its left side naturally associate with the "Van", so it reads to me as "Vane Edge"

#228 #230 - not as fond of these graphic elements, and moving away from big graphic logo treatments.

ok , so i will work on it to make it look and read as " Van Edge " , and make a little separation and put them up now.

#203 - #215 - wow what a lot of variations, thanks! I think I like #215 the best, but I'm having a hard time explaining exactly why. I do like the treatment in each of the letters V, E, and E (also like the treatment of the first E in #182).

Client
#241, #243 - intrigued by the negative space "E", not 100% sold on the specific treatment though with the circle. The wide of the circle around the E feels too heavy - out of proportion

Done , i did the revision you asked for the edged " E " to make it read as " Van Edge " , and removed those you did not like , as for #215 , i will add another version of it with the " E " like in #182 .

The revised versions are up now, let me know if you got any feedback or a version you would like to see of those final ones, i removed the rest you were not sure about, not to confuse you much.

I saw the chevron logo , its the same color on both sides , unlike this one i have here , its " E " inverted outwards and if you look at it many times you will see it as a solid 3d block edging outwards and you will also get to feel it has a white top roof to it, got my point ? it looks good and simple with the rest of logo, would look nice if utilized on letterheads , documents ,etc.

I am waiting to know the feedback after the revisions.

Thanks

#261 , different font treamtent, the simple font , more spaces between them all and the " E "

Logo Designer
#262 , same new simple font treatment, but here i added the top roof of the edged " E " outwards to make it look more " 3d " and not to cause any sort of confusion.

Waiting for your feedback

Thanks

Thanks Kareem! #262, #263, #264, #265 - very strong... jumped out at me when I first looked at them this morning. I certainly understand your comments about the Chevron logo - my point is not that that the previous versions were exact copies, it's a matter of what associations come to mind, what people think of when they see something. So when there is already a very famous mark, when something else comes even close - visually "rhymes" - it will look that even if it is not exactly the same. I know you see my point, because you've fixed this with #262 - #265. Thanks.

Yeah, no problem, thats the use of getting feedback, to work on refining things to the better.

It looks good and better now with that thin line above, it shows the beveling of it.

Its my favourite too, it really looks so elegant, simple, proffisional with an idea and message behined it thats related to the name.

If you want to see any other versions or have any suggestions, please ask me to do those for you.

Thanks

#388 and #390 , i played with the shade above the " E " , made it grey to look different then the black side of the " E " and one with spacing from top to match spacing in " E " and one without.

Those are the tweaks on that final version you liked.

Let me know if you think its better like this now.

Thanks
