I liked the idea of using a strong, symbolic animal, found across the United States, in a nobel setting. I chose a dark blue for a random back drop color as this will be used against a variety of back drops. The light blue outline is actually a 'white glow' around the design, though could be a solid color if you prefer. The glow and the drop shadow will help pop the logo off any photo it's placed against (since a solid white logo could be lost against a bright, sunny sky).
