Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for sending in these designs. They are far too basic and plain for me. I'm looking for something more than letters on a drop shadow.

I am also looking for something fun yet expensive feeling. My target market have money to spend and it's all about portraying a strong image, yet they are young and playful. I don't get this vibe from your current designs.

Thanks,
Geoff

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the feedback. With the first entries, it's more of a "does this work?" or perhaps more of a "getting to know your tastes" stage. Hope you understand; it's sometimes a shot in the dark. The Client Brief here at LT can at times run a little thin.

So, to help me help you get the logo you want, please let me know: how exactly are you defining "fun" and "expensive feeling"...? And also, "strong image, yet they are young and playful"...? Those are both highly subjective terms, and it would be helpful to know exactly how you are defining them.

I'm uploading a couple new ones just to get a feel for your tastes. I've included a lower-case version of your company name, as that always implies friendliness. And added a web 2.0 shine effect to indicate a modern touch and perhaps look a little more glamorous.

Thanks again for the feedback. I look forward to hearing more from you. Have a great day.

Regards,
Jennifer

P.S.: if you have concrete examples in mind -- logos that have exuded the qualities you mentioned -- please refer to them. You can just mention their names. That's perhaps the best way to communicate when two people who have never met face-to-face are deciding upon an objective. Hope you don't mind doing this, as I'd really rather not waste any time guessing; it's better to "see" exactly what you're thinking of, to save time. We only have so much time in this format. Thanks in advance, Geoff.

Hi Jennifer,

It's hard to explain. I need to attract both the 18 year old bubbly social networking girl and the 30 year old magazine editor. This is why I need something fun enough that the 18 year old it looks cool but classy enough that the 30 year old thinks they want to be associated with it.

In my head I'm thinking the 4 rings of the Audi logo. They are fun being multiple round rings, yet their shape, colour and 3D look make them classy.
Also the Apple logo. A bitten apple is fun and cheeky yet the metallic colour, gloss and 3D shaping make it feel classy and almost jewelery like.

Hi Geoff,

I'm thinking a star is the way to go when it comes to imagery, then. Like an apple, it has the potential to become that metallic, glossy, shaped object. I'll keep developing further versions of it. For now, I've included it in the text I've made. I'm still monkeying with different text approaches. Do you like the thick text look? How about lower-case? I've got over 2,000 fonts at my disposal on my computer, and I can find just about anything you wish.

I like the rings idea too, for Audi. Audi was comprised of 4 companies when it started; each of those 4 rings represented one of them. Is there any symbology attached with your company, something that could be conveyed like Audi's was? The simpler the better, in my opinion. Less visual clutter = greater memory retention. :)

If you have a company story that could be portrayed through a simple graphic, like the Audi story, please let me know. I'd be happy to take your logo in this direction. The more subtle and elegant, the better.

Hi Geoff,

Uploaded a new version with a star icon. It's not glossed, or 3-D, but it can be if you prefer. It's in all-caps. And it uses the same font used in both Obama campaigns (Gotham). It's a pricey font, and only a few people have it; I fell in love with it, and bought it. If you like it, let me know. I can also submit it in lower-case again as well. If you like the icon, we can continue shaping that as well. So, please tell me your thoughts on the font and also the icon; I'll keep developing alternate concepts as well.

Oh, shoot -- meant to mention: the reason why I'm using a star is that the star represents your future Clients. They're the star of their own show, they're the light-bearing creatures that guide the thoughts of their public(s), whatever that may be.

Hi Geoff,

I uploaded a new direction; hope that's what you're thinking of when it comes to being cool yet classy.

It has an arrow in the "U" to help the viewer understand that you, the PR firm, is where Clients want to be. That you, the PR practitioner, are the one to listen to. That you are the latest and greatest in PR!

I'll be happy to gloss this up, and/or add any other effects you wish.

Let me know what you think! Have a good one.

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for putting so much time towards my tournament. I'm not currently getting the right feel from your logo's. They are very well designed but they don't speak to me.

I like the look but don't feel they fit this brand.

Happy for you to keep submitting new looks if you wish. I would advise going in a totally new direction to what you have been. I'd recommend something more to do with communication. This company is all about pushing brands and exposing products.

Thanks,
Geoff

Hi Geoff,

You are very kind. Thank you for not binning my web 2.0 attempt. :) I appreciate your graceful approach; appreciated.

I actually was working on a speech-bubble design before I saw the one submitted by ebonk, and at LT, if a Designer submits a concept, they own that concept (and others cannot use it). I am now wondering if I can use it, as another Designer has submitted a speech-bubble concept, and there doesn't (at the moment) seem to be a problem with it from the previous Designer's side. I'll ask that Designer and/or Admin if they feel it's okay to do so, and if it is, I'll submit my version.

The other concepts I've been working on are social media-based in nature. And, modern technology (computers/web/internet) in nature as well.

Do you have a site for your business up, one where I can read about what you do? I'd love to learn more about your business, so I can perhaps come up with a design that suits you better.

Have a great morning when you get this!

Take care,
Jennifer
