Dancers, capitol, Native American figure all great! Those are done. No changes. Awesome!

What would this look like with the teal inside circle orange and the lines above and below the rectangle orange? (Leaving the lettering unchanged)

We are trying to find subtle ways to make it more happy, fun, and cheerful with a little orange, but not adding too much orange since it’s not our main color.

Dancers are great, spacing is great, Native American figure is great, no more changes needed on shapes or spacing. It all looks amazing! We are so pleased with the design!

The only change is to colors.

Could we see this with a teal shadow on the word Topeka instead of an orange shadow? (Keep the orange circle and for the shadow of the words “swing dance”.)

Basically once we get Dancer 2's arm the way we want the only thing we still want to try are different color combinations (create a black and white version for print materials, try adding orange to make it look a little brighter, etc.).

If it is a vector image and you are willing to give us the source file then my marketing person can make color changes. You have done SO much amazing work for us already, we don't want to ask much more of you.

If you don't mind trying one more thing, my marketing person would like to see a version where the inside circle is our orange rather than teal.

And THANK YOU again for all your work on this! We really appreciate it!! We are getting so close! (We're excited!!)

Also are you willing to give us the source files with the design?

Only one change to dancers. Dancer 2's upper arm (her upper right arm, or the left arm as we look at the logo) is still very skinny.

Let’s number the dancers left to right 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The right arm on dancer 2 needs to attach more naturally to the body. (Looks really skinny at the top of the arm by the shoulder right now.)

Thank you for continuing to work on this!

Like the yellow line on the bottom of capitol, looks finished (more than other design).

Can make figure on top of dome even bigger & move Topeka up so it covers his feet, the top of the Topeka is about at the height of his hips. (You can make just him bigger without making the rest of the dome bigger.)

Dancer 2nd from the left looks good. Would like more gender neutral hair on the figure on the far left.

Ok, we really like having a partnered couple in the logo! It looks like couples and solo dancers all having a great time!

(You have such a great eye for this!)

Now we'd like to make the people in the couple less stereotypically male/female (because people of all genders dance together in our scene) while still keeping their personality.

Things to try for the partnered couple:
•Have the woman have shorter hair, a less curvy figure, maybe be wearing pants
•Have the guy not wearing a hat, have a hair shape that could be male or female.

TopekaSwingDance commented on #191

TopekaSwingDance commented on #169

Withdrawn

Thank you for trying, I don’t think that solved the problem of it feeling crowded.

TopekaSwingDance commented on #168

Withdrawn

Also it looks like the capitol dome is “floating” while the dancers are anchored to the ground, there is a large white gap around the dancers feet and ankles. Any ideas to change that?

TopekaSwingDance commented on #168

Withdrawn

I like the amount of windows in the capitol design on #157, it looks less busy. Could you try that in this design?

Could the yellow be more transparent/lighter? Not a different color of yellow, but it is still overpowering the dancers a bit.

Would spreading the dancers out a little bit make it feel less crowded?

Interesting!

What if you took out the part of the dome behind the word Topeka completely?

TopekaSwingDance commented on #163

I like the lighter grey. It helps.

Hmmm. That does look kind of weird with that empty space there where the windows used to be.

Would a solid thick horizontal grey band instead of individual small windows be less distracting? (For both the bottom row and second to bottom row.)

Thanks for trying this. Fun Native American figure!

I like the capitol dome bigger, but it is still looking busy behind the dancers. It’s like the dancers and the dome are competing for our attention, and I want people to notice the dancers first, then realize there’s a dome behind them. So could you simplify the dome even more? And maybe a lighter grey?

Like the simplified dome in the other logo.

Also would like to see what this would look like if the dome were so big it went behind the Topeka, too, and the part where the Native American figure would go extended into the space above the word Topeka. Yeah, I like that, nice update.

Could you cut the jagged lines/triangle at the bottom, too, and then expand the dome part down to fill that space?

TopekaSwingDance commented on #154

Withdrawn

Maybe... I’m debating with myself.

Could you take out the triangle element at the bottom of the dome so it’s more just the dome and make it bigger? It seems really busy behind them, that might help. And then the dome could be taller, too, leaving room to add Ad Astra (our Native American chief) to peek over the top of the word Topeka on the top if we go this direction.

TopekaSwingDance commented on #153

Withdrawn

I like the two dancers you’ve chosen for this logo (I like that one of them is the woman so both women and men are represented in our logo).

You did it, a capitol building is in there! Thanks!

It feels odd for the capitol building to have that much detail when the dancers are just shapes.

Also if the capitol building was just a shape of a different color could the trio of dancers go on top of it (or would that ruin the clean simplicity of the overall design we’re working with here? I don’t want to lose that, I really appreciate that element of all of your recent submissions.)

TopekaSwingDance commented on #152

Withdrawn

Thank you for all of your ideas!!

This has possibilities. I really hate to break up that trio of dancers, though. Could the capital dome be suggested (maybe in the background) rather than so literally present and taking the place of one of the dancers?

TopekaSwingDance commented on #141

Withdrawn

Speaking of the capitol dome, is there any way you could bring a suggestion of our capitol dome into this design without changing/complicating things too much? We don't NEED it per say, but it is something that makes our swing dance scene unique. We often dance downtown in businesses near the capitol building, plus it something that makes Topeka unique from other cities that have swing dancing. (There is a picture of our capitol dome in the files.)

I don't want to throw this design on its head, but if we can also sneak a suggestion of the capitol building in there that would be super neat!

TopekaSwingDance commented on #142

I'm undecided on how I feel about closing the ends of the shape around swing dance with the triangle/flag. I almost prefer the ends left open or just closed off in a simple rectangle, maybe?

TopekaSwingDance commented on #141

Interesting. This rounded shape is nice, it also kind of suggests the capitol dome.

Maybe a little less fading on the dancers, they are starting to look a little patchy (especially the guy on the right), or like paint was splattered on them.

There is a lot I love about this design, too. It almost seems like the words are dancing and it's teeming with energy.

And could you try a different font (see note on another submission).

TopekaSwingDance commented on #114

I don't like this one as much. I like the angle to the words and how they fit between the dancers, but I prefer to either have the dancers behind it all the way or off to the side. Blending it with just a body part or two behind the letters doesn't quite work for me.

This group of new submissions is really strong!

Overall can we play with making the words more equal sized? Swing dance is just as important as the word Topeka (perhaps even more so), so if anything should be bigger than the other, it's probably the words "Swing dance."

TopekaSwingDance commented on #112

Withdrawn

I liked a lot about this design! The figures coming from behind the words infuse it with energy, as does the angle of the words. It just looks fun, and that's one of the words we want to capture in our logo.

Love the figures! Could you try making them in our yellow color (see the files) rather than this tan color?

The white space between the orange outline and the letters gives it almost a blurry feel when I'm looking at it. Instead of two shadows (white and orange) can we cut it down to one or none?

Also orange isn't one of the colors we use very often, so we don't want much (if any) orange on our logo. Our three main colors are the teal, yellow and navy.

Not super loving the font. I like the thickness since it's in front of the figures, but the serifs look a little circus-like to me.

Can the figures look more vintage? They look more contemporary dance than vintage. Also maybe having their poses be even a bit more different from one another so it's not quite such a mirror image (see files for pics of swing dancers for pose ideas)

Font could have a more vintage feel as well.

Words "swing dance" need to stand out more, they are equally if not more important than the word "Topeka."
