Hi, the logo itself is professional looking. Thank you for the first contest entry. :)
However, for our gym, the metaphor is not what we look for. The man in the logo lifts weights, which we try to differentiate from, and hence make a separation from a traditional gym. We intend to use different training methods, like construction vehicle tires and sledgehammers. We would like to see a "professional" version of the attached logo what we sketched by ourselves, see the attached file.
Hi, Frankly, it won't be easy to beat you.I rely like your logo design - it looks fresh and kind of dirty in the same time - quite stylish to me. The only problem is you have to know the background to understand it. Just by looking at it you would never tell this is about lifting and sports (unless you read in Finnish). I will think of it and let you know if I have something.
It might be so that only having a tire and a sledge hammer would not at the moment tie it directly to the sports, but we think that is mainly because this is not yet mainstream, but strongly becoming one. Soon enough, also the tire and hammer will identify itself as a new sport :D At least that is our vision.
In general, the problem with our own logo try-out is the quality, the tire is badly shaped and sledgehammer is poor quality, even though the font might actually work... If you could think of something here, we'd be open to see suggestions :)
As I said I really like dirty looks of your original logo so I worked to consolidate it in design term and make it more readable. I don't think that "I" replacement with sledge hummer works because army font you chosen is much thicker that the tool. It can work to scatter some other weigh items around logo.
Personally, I use nice Swedish one hand dumbbell. If you think it isn't much to exercise with I can add it weighs 20kg which at my 72 kg frame can be enough especially when you add some pull ups and walking on hands. I think that all that matters is to give myself a hard time.
Now we are talking :) That wheel logo looks really astonishing and has the "looks" what we went for. Could we see a couple of variants of the same one:
- Make the red a little bit dirtier (darker?), to see whether it works better. - The shadow in the logo really works, but gives a second thought about having the logo, for example, in a t-shirt. How would it look like without the shadow? - If the logo was overall black, what then?
Also, if you can think of some other useful metaphor, like the dumbbells, handstands, pull-ups, whatever you can fit into the logo, we are open to suggestions :)
Looking forward of those revisions. Another idea what came up with other logos was using a red outlining. We were wondering would it work for your art as well.
I tried to add a couple of items but the one with the chains is too busy for me. If you don't like the kettle bell it can be exchanged with something different - though I can't imagine anything better right now. It's high time to take my kids for a bicycle trip but if you still can see potential in this design I will be available late in the evening.
Thanks for the new round up. A lot of toughts here about those :) So, as a summary this is what we think:
- The kettlebell in front of the logo works. It feels like the tire and the bell has been left lying around after a workout, so it is a nice thought. - We agree, the chains are making the logo too busy. - The logo seems better without the shadow, so let's drop it at this point. - Now, in the "toimintasali" text there is ink "dripping", which also is making the logo a littlebit messy. Having the main logo a littlebit "messy/armylike" is enough, so let's leave the drips off - the tone of red is good
As a summary, logo #19 is the best at the moment, if we lose the red drips from "toimintasali". Could we see one.
However, we are thinking about the footprints in front of the logo as well, which is a good idea. So, could we see a variant which has: - All text color in black (also the "toimintasali") - footprints in the front of the logo included, but in red color. We think it could work like underlining the logo. - no dripping in the letters
With these two proposals starting from #19 we are quite close to finish the contest and we can choose the final candidate :) We greatly appreciate your co-operation.
And one more thing, related to design #19 and #6. They have different sized "Toimintasali" words. We think the smaller one works better, so final drafts should be drawn using that one.
Here are two requested versions plus one with slightly bigger and darker upper font. Don't hesitate to mention if you have some farther corrections on your mind. (This is more your design that mine after all.)
Thanks for the new versions. We now took a look at all of the variants and did the final ranking. Your change about slightly darker and bigger upper font works and looks better than others. Also, we still like the footsteps, but it somewhat makes the logo a little bit noisy. As an end result, the logo #26 is a winner and the ranking now matches with our current opinion. Unless something very strange happens during the last 10 hours, we think this is the conclusive ranking for this contest.
At this point thanks again very much for your supportive attitude and a pleasant contest. :)
One more version for you to consider - lighter shadows and foot prints make it a bit less busy. Sometimes it's good to have more than one version - to use for different purposes.
