Discussion

Thanks for the new entries. Please see the general discussion for some generic comments. Legibility of the t & b is important. #70 is a little hard to read the t - it reads mostly like a b. #69 is better. Can you please try some glossy ones, and some that are more "assembled?" We really want a sense of different parts, maybe some blocky and some curvy, coming together - with strong figure ground - to create the letters.
Thanks again, these look great and we look forward to more.

These new ones look great, thanks!
We are receiving a ton of submissions in the last few hours, and unfortunately we don't feel like we have time to thoughtfully consider all the entries before close of the open phase. We are going to take some time to discuss all of these here and make our final 5 decision some time after the close of the open phase. Please feel free to keep submitting until that time.
We will do one last ranking as shortly after the close as possible, to lock down the final 5. We will be in touch with the final 5 once we have decided, and we will try not to change those top 5 once they are determined.
Thanks again for all your terrific effort.

Thanks for the great entries, and welcome to our final 5! Can we please see a few variations of #128? Can you please remove the grey "halo?" It looks great in this context, but we'd like to see the logo without the "container" that it creates. Also, can you do one with the tb larger and above the text - more like #119. Can we also see something that incorporates the slogan, and some that use color?
Thanks again for the wonderful work, and we look forward to more!

Thanks, these are amazing. Can we see one more thing on #161 & #159? Can you please do versions without the gloss so we can see how they would look engraved on the cases - simple tone on tone. Also, the more we look at it #119 is very compelling, but the t is a little hard to read. Is there any way to make the t read better without messing up the beautiful, simple purity of the form? Don't spend too much time on it if you don't think there is, but maybe there is a way to add a subtle bit to the left without losing the strength of the circles.
Thanks again for the tremendous effort!

Thanks for the new ones! Can we try a couple more things? It may get too muddy, but we'd like to see #158, with a reflection like #152. The slogan would need to move down some, so it may not work, but we'd like to see it.
Can we also try #158 colorized like #162, but with a more "masculine" color? Something with more grey in the blue? Maybe somewhere in the neighborhood of RGB 80, 90, 100 for the middle of the gradient - but please adjust as you see fit.
Thanks again, we're almost there!

Sorry, one more thing. What is the font you are using, and will there be any licensing issues? Where would we get it if we need to purchase it?
Thanks.

I will try to add the reflection above the tagline without losing the compact feel ..
+ the different color version
In most entries, especially #158 I have modified the shapes of the letters in order to get a more unique look..
The fonts original letters I have used in #69.
Anyway I do own a commercial license for this font so you dont have to worry about any licensing issues.

#188 #189 #190 #191 #192 #193 #194

I have played with the strength of the reflection and the color and position of the tagline
..they will never be as compact as #158 but some of them still look pretty balanced.

I will upload the improved blue later today...

Thanks for all of these. Glad to hear about the font. Can you clarify the font name used in the tag line? We may want to use that font, or at least have it available, for packaging text, etc. - to be consistent.
Hate to be a pest, but can we see a few more things? Can we try versions where one word is bold and the other not - kind of like #70? We are worried about how it will engrave, since it will be harder to achieve the grey tone vs. the black tone.

And the last thing (hopefully), can we see one inverted, where the image is white on a black background? Our current packaging design has a primarily black background so we need to see if this can work inverted, or if we need to think about redesigning our packaging. Not sure how the grey scale image inverts.
Thanks again, you have done an amazing job!

Perfect, thanks! We'd like to wrap this up today, if possible - and I'm sure you do too. Here is what we think - #196 with the gloss etc. from #194. If you are using Illustrator would it be possible to get a native AI file in addition to the eps?
It works well inverted, thanks - we'll keep our packaging moving forward.
Thanks again for everything, it has been a pleasure working with you - hope we haven't been too difficult.

Sorry,I had a very stressful day and it wasnt possible to wrap it up yesterday...
The site will only let me upload an EPS and a JPEG but I can send the AI to your email after the approval of the EPS...
Which version of Illustrator do you have...(for example cs2 wont open my cs5 files unless I save them to a legacy format)

No worries, we appreciate all the tweaks and revisions you've made. We went ahead and closed this down with #200 winning, congratulations! Version CS3 would be great. I'll PM you with details.
Thanks again for all your hard work, it has been great.
