Like this design - it has very similar components to the book, which is good. I like the slanting of the word. Can you do that in the other version you created?
Also, please add my name, Andrew Freedman, at the bottom of the logo, as I'm part of the brand. thanks and keep the ideas coming!

Like this design - it has very similar components to the book, which is good. Would need versions of this that would still pop if it is against a dark background, so would like you to consider that and give me your opinion.
