Thanks for your invitation. Here is my first concept which represent a big wave within camera lens. To keep abstract feel, I used black and yellow.
Please let me know what your thoughts are. I will follow up promptly.
Thanks

Hi kooldog,

Thanks for submitting a concept - I really appreciate your time!

I like the simplicity very much. I know this may seem a little too literal, but could you try making the wave a shade of blue? I do like the yellow because of the feeling of sunrise/sunset.

I first looked at the logo before reading your comment and immediately thought apostrophe. Is there any way to add some edge detail to break up that feeling?

Best,
Matt

Hi kooldog,

Thanks for keeping after this one. I really appreciate it.

I keep coming back to #36 and the black. It's simple. 42-43, 57-58 all feel a bit too "surfer" and not photography. I'm wondering if that hashmark we made to give the wave some detail actually hurt.

Could you try working with #36 again and make the black a dark blue... but don't add the detail to the wave? If you could also make the text the same color blue, that would be a good one to look at.

I liked #71 a lot, but I feel it looks like a rabbit. I think I like the wave concept a bit more. It's funny - I keep seeing archetypes in your designs!

Thanks again!

How about this one which represent aperture while it shows spiral of shell (ocean look) as well.
Please let me know what your thoughts are.

kooldog - wow you read my mind about going square. I was just about to send you a note about that idea. Can you try one more thing - try the "photography school" in the same blue as well as increasing the size/letter spacing to make it match the same length as "outer banks"?

Thank you!!

Would you be able to show me what the reverse of this looks like on a dark grey background? Like a #333333 or #666666? Also - could we try just a little thinner outline of the square?

Hi kooldog,

I just wanted to say thanks again for all of your hard work on this contest. It was a very tough decision and I tried to get some feedback from those close to me. In the end, I felt this design just felt a bit too much like a "surfing" brand instead of photography. It was an extremely tough decision - this is a great design for someone in that line of business.

Best,
Matt
