Our Ideas & Additional Information
Introduction
David Hancock owned and operated two Atlanta-based businesses in the construction industry in the previous 29 years. This experience in the areas of construction, property development and commercial landscaping provided an opportunity to transition into the insurance claim restoration business upon the collapse of the construction industry. Mr. Hancock then became the principal founder of Assured Restoration LLC, using his background as a licensed contractor to assist customers with their insurance claims. This consisted primarily of defining coverage and assisting in reconstruction. Mr. Hancock received his public adjuster’s license and resident agent’s license from the State of Georgia. It was during the education phase of this process that Mr. Hancock saw an opportunity to move into insurance sales.
Mr. Hancock’s construction related business was insured for 15 years by Ed Knight of Knight, Lanier & Mathews. This business relationship provided an opportunity to enter the retail sales sector of the insurance industry, becoming an outside producer for Knight, Lanier & Mathews. Under this guidance Mr. Hancock has grown a diverse book of clients from three states. Mr. Hancock is currently scheduled to take his final course in March of 2014 to obtain the AAI designation and State Counselors license.
Current position
Working as an outside producer for Knight Lanier,& Mathews. Mr. Hancock has leveraged contacts from his previous businesses, offering risk management services to commercial clients. This initial phase has gone well, positioning the business to enter the next phase of growth.
Competitive advantage
Previous experience in the construction sector has provided Mr. Hancock the background and opportunity to offer risk management from a business owner’s perspective. Future growth is dependent upon creating business realtionships based on service, trust and personal interaction with prospective clients and the current customer base. As in any business, referalls are key. However, developing an agency that focuses solely on business insurance will create a boutique offering in the midst of Atlanta and the southeast. This same business model was successful in my previous endeavors before the construction industry collapsed.
Going forward the Assured Group will specialize in commercial p & c, with a slant toward hard to place accounts. From my experience thus far and with the benefit of guidance from Ed Knight of Knight, Lanier & Mathews it is my belief that this sector is one that the Assured Group is poised to take advantage of.
