Industry Education Color Preferences The University of Texas signature “burnt orange” (#CC5500) should be used in some capacity. Black, gray, browns and blues are also good. Our Ideas & Additional Information The University prohibits use of the familiar Texas Longhorn logo in any academic logos. However, we REALLY want this logo to convey that we are part of UT-Austin. The Longhorn can be represented more abstractly. One excellent example of an abstract longhorn logo has been used for UT-Austin's McCombs Business School (http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/). Here the "longhorn" shape is meant to symbolize the top of the "M" in "McCombs." We'd like to see something similar utilizing the top of the "M" in "Materials." Please do NOT use images of the state of Texas. Either "TMI" or "Texas Materials Institute" or both should be included in the logo. Interesting that the burnt orange that both of those logos use sort of forms the shape of a "T" over top of the "M"....now if only there were a way to work the "i" in there too that would be an awesome logo concept for us. Can you try to work the "i" into the letterform? 14 years ago EFRCadmin Client Thanks to everyone for your continued submissions! Your ideas on incorporating the "i" are very inspired and a good start. Some concerns: when a lowercase i is used, please avoid stylings that cause the dot on the i to look like a head....particularly "i on top of T" looks a lot like a head with arms...not our intent.I'd suggest using different colors to distinguish the letters from one another, particularly for designs in which the letters are fused together/share lines. We're also very interested in abstract artwork that can convey scientific innovation or research excellence. Thanks again and keep up the good work! 14 years ago EFRCadmin Client We're very enthusiastic about the outcome of this contest thus far and are looking forward to further submissions from all of you. We are checking with our public relations office to see whether the abstract longhorns created here will be "allowed" or "unallowed" and will let you know ASAP. Thanks for the hard work! 14 years ago
