Yes, Alessio. You have understood well. Thank you for your good work. I will take a look at these fonds. Thank you for providing me with their names. I will give a decision on the final font later this evening.
Best, Thomas
#290 is Times New Roman #292 is Minion Pro #293 is Adobe garamond #300 is Minion Pro (same as #292 with UC/TN aligned)
I'll make the same alignment with the font you'll choose. #308 is Droid Serif
Ciao Thomas, no problem for anything. I'll provide all the files you need. Icon on the top and on the left, blue background and white background and transparent background of course. The file you need to apply the logo on your clips is a PNG. I'll support and help you after the end of the contest, if you need.
Don't worry!😊
It was not easy for me as a person with a commercial background to decide between the you and the other four favorite designers and their work. There were some very strong contenders and creativity to my liking has been expressed. But at the end of the day there usually only one party which can be on top. My choice is with you.
However, I still require some guidance from you:
1.) fonts chosen in #290, #292, #293, #300 and #308. Can you provide me with their exact names each, please? The final winner will be one of these five refinements.
Thereafter:
2.) I would require the following combinations from you:
2.1.) changing the background color to navy blue and all what was navy blue (yacht icon and the word Superyacht) in white instead. I would also need a file with a transparent background.
2.2.) a repositioning of the icon and the logo. Instead on top of each other, please have the icon left and the block with words on the right next to it.
2.3.) and a icon alone file. Vector type and a general format easy for me to apply - just in case of.
At the end I will ask you for the logo / vector files (probably also other formats) in order for me to start the following:
- starting a letter head here
- using your files for the printer for the biz cards
- using your files for setting up my youtube channel
- using a file with a transparent background that I can insert as a watermark in my future clips (and also photos). Do you have any idea what file format is used to apply this on .MP4, .JPEG, .RAW ?
"Google for photos for "prickly pear anguilla" and imagine your logo for a yacht video/photography around that little stretch of paradise."
I think it definitely works very good!
Prickly Pear Anguilla is a wonderful place. It's a Paradise. I hope one day to have the chance of going there.
OKTO is superb and match my design but SARASTAR is unreachable 😄
Ciao Thomas, the font it's the great classic "Times New Roman". It never disappoints. Anyway if there is some other font you like, I can work to match the U and the C / the T and the N and we can see if there is the same harmony.
Since you did enjoy SARASTAR...I have another one for which does correspond with your core design quite well, again design from Italy, built in Italy, of course ... OKTO ... https://youtu.be/WijEW0a29JY
Ciao Alessio, thanks for this and the others. What is the name of this font? I tried to look good and intensively at all your last ppsls. With this one I find again symmetry and balance. I mean I see the U and the C in vertical line as well as the T and the N. The Y sits nicely centered with the bow line and the middle of the cut wave.
Google for photos for "prickly pear anguilla" and imagine your logo for a yacht video/photography around that little stretch of paradise.
Ciao Thomas. I submitted different examples with solid serif fonts. I left the "Y" in the same size of other letters. When we set the best font or a couple of those, I can make some draft with the "Y" taller, if you like that.
Regards,
Alessio
hours later: I am still struggling with the font.
but i enjoy the idea of the colors and the icon: the ship and superyacht in dark blue, the waves and caribbean in aquamarine. I guess same color combo does also exist in Sardinia when at certain times of the year the sun is hitting the water in the right angle and bringing colors what in other seasons you do not necessarily see.
"I will check Alessio. Thank you. FYI I have just requested an extra three days extension, for every one in our finalist phase to have a little extra time for creativity on refinement and for me for careful consideration. I will look at your other proposals and shall comment."
Yes, I read it. Just take the time you need. You have to be 100% satisfied with your logo regardless of who will win.
"You see what I mean with your icon approaching the viewer? Cutting the waves and coming towards us? Yes, Alessio, that's why the core of your #123 caught my attention right away after seeing it first time."
Yes, you got the point. That gives to the design a bit of dynamism. After you have assimilated the boat it comes up the sensation of speed and the yacht coming toward the observer. I think it's definitely a NOT boring logo for this reason.😊
Yes Alessio. This one is the most preferable of your refinements. Please now make some proposals on other conservative, solid fonts. Best regards, Thomas
I will check Alessio. Thank you. FYI I have just requested an extra three days extension, for every one in our finalist phase to have a little extra time for creativity on refinement and for me for careful consideration. I will look at your other proposals and shall comment.
I've submitted #278, #279, #280. In #280 the bottom of the wave is pointed, while in the other proposals is smooth. It's a little difference but I would like to know your preference.
You see what I mean with your icon approaching the viewer? Cutting the waves and coming towards us? Yes, Alessio, that's why the core of your #123 caught my attention right away after seeing it first time.
I would remain with one color on the yacht as such. That means no second color on the antenna dome. The only second color is aquamarine in the wave split aside. And with a good chance in the word "Caribbean".
Take #123, change the font of Superyacht and Caribbean to the same size, one font style. Superyacht in dark blue, Caribbean in turquoise, "of the" very small in between and with one line left and right of it. Like you had ppsed in #255 and others.
Ciao Alessio, some comments:
1. my core design with you is #123
2. we skip any color red for the future, like in #177, I turned away from it although I am a big fan of clue and ref in general. Aquamarine has taken over red during this tournament. Interesting experience for me.
3. when giving the word "Caribbean" the same prominence as "Superyachts" then I believe it is wise to stay with the same size AND style of font.
4. I like of all the type of waves been cut your yacht the #123 proposal still best,. I can feel the speed the yacht is performing and coming towards me.
In this regards I'd like to link you to an excellent yacht, one of my favs. From Italy of course - builder, exterior design and take a look inside. A true masterpiece - to me. She also does some wave cutting by the way ;-) https://youtu.be/D_ppdEhCB4Y
I notice the closer we are coming to the refinement of core designs the more challenging this tournament becomes for me as a customer. Psychology kicks in now with the remaining time ticking...lol. I am sitting behind my desk in the office with two screens next to each other comparing details. Will be getting back to you in a few mins.
Honestly, the waves in your initial proposal here are the best for me so far. Cutting the seas. The others are a bit too "splish splash I am taking a bath".
Hi Thomas, thanks for the feedback. I'll play more on the font for Caribbean. If there is a wave you like more than the others, it could be helpful to know that for me. So I can try to improve my design with the best wave and looking for the right font. Regards,
Alessio
Ciao Alessio, unfortunately I have not made it to Sardinia yet. It is on my bucket list. I am also living on an island. Very small, in the Caribbean. Yes, and Italy in fact has a very strong tradition of great ship owners and builders. I have sold in my earlier days for a period of nearly 20 years cargo/commercial vessels with many good business partners located in Italy.
Coming back to our topic: I see that you are trying to center the letter "Y" with you icon. You do even enlarge it. Good approach. Don't be too playful with the fonts in the word "Caribbean". Either we are going here a conservative and valuable and strong path or something modern. If we would work on a project for ship wreck divers or old sailing ships from the two centuries ago trading rum and sugar then maybe your fonts used on the word Caribbean could come into play. But not for my project.
Good to see that you are giving "superyachts" and "caribbean" more presence and reducing "of the".
I'm not an expert in Yachts but I know the historical Italian tradition of great ship owners and shipyards.
I'm from Sardinia, the most Caribbean island in Italy 😄 and yachts are familiar for me.
Ciao Alessio, beautiful country (with the richest history in yachting in the entire world), nice people, good memories...
Look at this yacht here, check the photos of "KAOS" and the one showing her from the front/bow section. https://yachtharbour.com/yacht/project-jubilee-3469 Your proposal here is very much going into this direction. This is what I was appreciating when submitting this ppsl as your second contender. Grazie Thomas
Hi, yes I'm from Italy. I think to have caught your point. I'll work on fonts (particularly on 'of the Caribbean') and I'll try to improve the wave shape. 😊
Hello Alessio, glad that you got me this proposal after I declined your first one. I have seen your variations of this one here now. And although I am strong admirer of red in combination with navy blue - I think in this case the turquoise is working better instead of the red. But we can leave that for later. What I like you to take into consideration is the symmetry of the word "SUPERYACHT" and its letter "Y" which does offer great potential in the symmetry with your icon. The shape of the wave been cut in the center by the bow is also good. But wondering if there's some alternative how to display this cutting water? The font def needs work. Whilst I could maybe go with the font chosen for Superyachts, the font for "of the Caribbean" is far too weak for me. Please propose sth different. What I like in your alternatives was that you had put more emphasis on "superyachts" and "caribbean" and reduce both the words "of the". The same strategy can be found also in the logo of "pirates of the caribbean". You catch my point?
What time zone you are working from? Italy?
Hi Alessio, maybe you can think a bit more into the direction of the two (or three) strong words here: Superyachts (or Super Yachts) and Caribbean. Probably a separate icon which can also be used later as a standalone would be interesting. The icon of Antilia is meantime after many years existing very well recognized with my customers for instance
Ok, thanks for the feedback. Do you like the idea of having a symbol inside of SYOTC or prefer a separate icon?
Thanks, I'll try to make something better anyway.
Regards,
Alessio
