One last idea. The house is on an island. Can you reverse the colors and do the blue water color on the bottom and the sand color on top of it? The sand color will need to be different then the sky. Might be cool to curl the tip of the water section as well to show movement.

A lot depends on how the wooden sign will be made.
For example, you can make milled parts of wood in various colors.
A circle, e.g. dark oak and the top e.g. birch, all in natural wood colors.
