I like the colors shifting into the leaf shape. Both designs attract the eye and you have brought in the elements we are looking for.

What if you create each design again trying out different fonts? Get a look at how that might shift/change the design...curious. the upper and lower case is good

Entry #53.....like this font better, but the color/tone treatments on #51.
Also, can you remove the tassel from the mortarboard?

Question...is there another image for Student that might work better than the cap? Book? Or whatever you think might work.
