Hi Tom, Here's something very different, my trigger icon, nothing symbolises firearms more in my opinion simple and modern with a big professional organisation feel. Would look great on caps and clothing, even on the side of a jeep. Let me know if you like it.
I like the color scheme on #54 a lot. I didn't immediately get the trigger but after I realized what it was, it really jumped out. I like that thought process and wonder what it might look like if, instead of the trigger, you symbolized looking down the sights of a handgun. You can see what the sights might look like by looking at the logo of: http://www.frontsight.com/
I should also mention that many of our shirts and caps are black so the logo will need to be designed so that it looks great against black when embroidered. The black background shows that it will.
#54 - I would like to see this with the lettering in "Stillwater" possibly be the same light steel/silver as the center portion of the logo. The more I look at this logo, the more I like it's simplicity.
#54 - I figured out why I was having trouble getting the trigger symbolism. Our minds are programmed to see left to right. The way the trigger is positioned, it is pointing left so you have to see the "gun" in a right to left view for the trigger to be oriented properly.
#66 & #67 - Trigger looks fine both directions. I don't know that I have a preference at this point.
I just happen to have the two black and white versions (#51 & #67) up side by side and it made me realize there was a tremendous amount of versatility to the design in terms of what kind of background it is against when it is the more simple color schemes.
I would still like to see something that adds a little bit of aggressive edge to the design. I would love to see your thoughts on adding that edge to the logo.
#51 - After getting different opinions, we like the trigger facing the direction you initially had it. I would still like to see a variation that had the three-dot as described above because that is the very first thing I thought of when I saw the large block.
The more we see the simpler designs, the more we like them. I would like to see if you could take your simplistic approach and still add that bit of aggressive edge to it.
Hi Tom, Here's a new one, gunsight icon Now remember this isn't suppose to be a technically perfect gunsight It's more an artistic stylised representation, keeping it simple like the previous icon, which means clarity, easy to remember and unique to others in your field, and is modern, which shows your company moves with the times and doesn't look like a cheesy security guard company logo like your competitors.
#90 - Not a fan of the three dots and the trigger.
#89 - Really like this. I can see having a suite of these logos. This one can be used on web pages where the definition comes through. The more simple black & white designs with colors reversed could be used for embroidery, etc and the reversable colors allows it to be used no matter what the background color is.
#92 - Really like the sight logo. I get what you're saying on the stylized version. Maybe take a look at dropping the center dot...I think that would really work. Maybe working in a front sight post in between the rear sights and then having a break with a stylized Stillwater Armory above the break so it almost looks like the sight picture is on Stillwater Armory. I could see that still being stylized but easily recognizable as a good sight picture.
These are great! Thanks much. I'm excited to see what else you might have in mind.
Another general comment. You took a very simple and stylized approach with the recognizable trigger. Another very recognizable portion of a hangun is the hammer. Do an image search for "1911 hammer" and you'll see what is a very common and quickly recognized feature.
#102 - I still like the simplicity in your design but the hammer does not translate near as well as the trigger. Your #92 is still my favorite and think it could be tremendous. I posted some comments above concerning #92 but I hesitate to direct too much as you clearly are more design oriented and gifted than I and I feel like my directions would just get in the way.
The trigger design continues to get many comments and most go along the lines of "it keeps growing on me".
Thank you for the continued entries and I would love to see where else you could take #92
