Here is the design I came up with, based on the idea you referenced. I thought it would be a nice idea to include a cross within the design, as well as a family.

And here is another idea, where the cross is at the center of the family--made up of the space made by the husband and wife. I then added a bell on top of the school house to fill the space and to further reflect the idea of a school.

We like the one w/ the cross in the bell tower the best. Could you add the Immaculate Heart like you did the cross in Entry#3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sacredheart.svg). Like the overall design it hits all of the salient points. Thanks, looks awesome!

Humh, I don't know how that would scale smaller....would be lost. Let me see if there is something else that I can find that can add a Catholic theme.

Sure thing; I will get started on revisions right away. Is there a specific style of cross in that gallery of symbols that you want to reflect?

See what you think of this new version. I wanted to strongly reflect the actual church, while still keeping the logo as clean and simple as possible.

Like that you tried to add some of the look but had too much going on. Maybe only include that arch shapes into the logo and maybe the large circle.
