I like the fact that you tried to do something with the S. You may be on to something there but think how does this say "Sports" in the logo? I also personally like how silhouettes or figurine of people can look if done correct. Just some thought on how to move forward. Go look at the logo I posted on the contest description, will give you a really good idea about what I like.
Lets remember that this is social media and also will be a site that helps athletes shine as "Sports Idols" via the social media of the site. Keep this in mind when making the logo. Making something out of the S is a good idea. Circular and innovative...
