#8 We like its simplicity and humility. May we also see it inverted (white for red)? May we also see it w/ a round shape (oval, maybe)? We like it this way and wonder about using it as is AND inverted colors.
#17 Nice idea, the glow. Not entirely sure about the rounded rectangle, but suspect that will grow on me. Understand there has to be some boundary to the graphic in order to have glow and its message.
We like #12 & have ranked it first. We wish the symbol were more memorable as a stand-alone symbol. Please see #93 and #123: memorable. Don't make it look like Adobe Flash. Preserve elegance & simplicity. Words easier to read. We'll use color on white/color, not reversed w/ a box around it. 2 colors might be interesting; red/gold? red/silver? but your choice sought; you have the eye.
Also like the spark "o" in #123. Possibly that alone, if you could incorporate it without ruining your excellent design, would add the "oomph," the excitement we hope for. Still, do not ruin your design trying to incorporate non-artists' adjustments. I will share w/ you that we have liked your work best from the beginning of the contest.
Nice additional options. #243 The addition of the spark is super. Two colors are great. Unfortunately, the idea of F doesn't carry as well with this spark. I have two ideas but expect you'll have your own better ideas. Would there be a more "alive" spark (see #227, #228) give the graphic more motion/flow? Maybe. Maybe not. You're the artist. If you keep the spark now in #243, would tilting it make the graphic look more like an F as well as the S it now clearly is? Don't destroy what you have done, though. We all like it.
Thank You for the good feedback! In this time its not S anymore and its not clearly F. But this spar is there, to show that it can be as F too. Spark is tn the same place, where the splitted dash was before :) And spark there is nice, agree. But shape more like F... hmm, it you really want, then I can do, but I think, its not so good anymore. Right now the good point is, its simple! And it is my motto: less is more! Let me know, what do you think about my thoughts. And Im very grateful, that you gave the highest rank to my work. Its really hard to protect ideas here against another designers (like that flaming S or F), thats why I really appreciate your decision to hold my design on the top.
Denzu, I'll take your wisdom and knowledge. Hang in. I'll refer the board of directors to #245 IF (and only if) they ask me about "more F." I agree: less is more. Let's just let the ideas now in place percolate.
Denzu, several of our top management are on travel (we didn't foresee it when we launched tournament). Will you be willing to <slightly> alter logo concept until end of next Tuesday, 8.28.2012? I am madly trying to contact people while in airports between flights and so on. We're very interested in your designs, as I believe you can see. I am not asking this of any other designer.
#12, #243,#246 Denzu, I believe yours will be the winning design; I'm just not sure which set of characteristics and cannot be sure until tomorrow, probably late in the day California, U.S. (Pacific) time zone. It might not be until Tuesday. I have two questions: 1. Would it be ethical for me to ask you to work with us over the next two Pacific time, U.S. days to refine a design to perfection? I can then let the contest expire tomorrow, perhaps even close the tournament early by choosing you/your design, but continue to refine it? I am not willing to do anything Logo Tournament does not allow. 2. Spark Freedom wants to launch our website soon. Is it okay for you to work with us outside logo tournament, on contract to be agreed, on additional graphics work? If Logo Tournament allows this, might you be interested?
I have re-ranked logos. One of your designs will be the winner. Exact configuration is under active discussion in our office, today. - #12 has been almost everyone's favorite since the beginning. It looks like SF, is sophisticated, is perfect for web and print configurations (can, with relative ease, be made to appear "vertical," "square," or "horizontal" by switching text position and configuration. Its only liability: no spark, no freedom. This has led to several new designs, also among our favorites. - #245, #246, #256 include sparks in the shape we like best. It looks least like a Christmas tree star. Liability: makes the "f" appearance more subtle. #256 looks closest, in shape, to what we think will be the final. We wish the star were elongated vertically and angled up (see #12 and imagine an elongated star instead of an oval). The organization's president and one board member said: "narrow and upward flowing" and "elongate and tilt [it]," respectively. My eye agrees. - Color(s). We'll decide today, I sincerely hope. One color, two colors, three colors, which color(s) are under discussion. There will be an end to the discussion. - Font. We all like #12's font/type look, but we're not going to go with it. We will settle on #256's font, boldface "spark", "freedom" not bolded. Probably upper/lowercase, as #256; TBD, and soon. Type color TBD, with color decision. - There is what I call a logo or graphics "outlier." We may (and may not) ask to buy, separately, #11. More as I know more. - Specifications. At the conclusion of the tournament, not before, I will ask for font name. This will save me time as I implement your logo on business stationery, in communications, and on our website. Finally, further work with you. I intend to see whether you are interested in implementing significant portions of the full branding process that our choosing a logo will set in motion, beginning with website graphics. This would be outside logo tournament, and I would ask for a bid/estimate for defined tasks/work. I have asked Logo Tournament whether and how that may be accomplished. For now, please do nothing. It is not a good use of your time to continue to submit relatively small adjustments to current logos UNTIL we can provide precise ideas. Thank you very much.
Thank You! Good news to me. We can talk about other design works later, if this contest is finished, then its correct and not against the Logotournament rules.
Will I, today, see a design with a different spark shape? See admittedly too-long previous email, first bullet point. My sincere apologies for the "do nothing" part of that. I want to see a different spark before awarding prize.
Still not worried about color set. Thank you and I'm embarrassed for mixed and imprecise previous message.
Today, Monday U.S., is a holiday and my president may not check in. As well, the cellphone to her area was knocked out yesterday by a storm. This is to say I may not be able to get enough feedback to select one of your excellent designs as winner until Tuesday U.S.
I understand we're asking a lot of vague things. You're doing well understanding.
All right: here I go. Congratulations on the winning design, #285.
When contest is officially over and it's allowed to do so, I would like to email with you about other design matters -- if you're interested in considering more branding work for this company.
