Also the center orange sun is used in the Culebra logo but the sail boats are not used from the Vieques....can the center orange sun be changed to something else here?Great job, really like what you have done. We have extended the contest an extra day and will extend further if needed. 12 years ago NerdyBird Logo Designer Hi and thank you for your suggestions- I will message you as soon as I submit the changes. 12 years ago NerdyBird Logo Designer Entries #31 and #32 are the updated versions for this contest. I am also uploading new versions to the other contests. Thanks! 12 years ago NerdyBird Logo Designer Here are some things to keep in mind as you make your way through your contests:-A successful logo will work well in both color and black and white. A lot of people print from websites in black ink only, and most fax machines as well. Keep this in mind as you select your logo, nobody wants to fax something that just becomes a blob of black ink on the end of your important business contacts.-Shiny, "bubbly" logos can be fun to look at on the web, but they often don't print well. The same goes for drop shadows. The trouble happens when colored gradients are used to get these effects - they can be unpredictable from print shop to print shop. Also, too many shadows and shiny effects can very quickly make a logo look dated... but in a mid 90's way, not a cool vintage way. Drop shadows also tend to cheapen the look of a logo, unless done in a very conservative way.-Much of the time, the more simple a logo the better. Not boring - just simple, uncluttered design. Think of some of the most famous logos out there: Apple, Nike, Adidas and Google... they are simple, but utterly iconic. In this case, you want to draw attention to your logo and be a bit "flashy" in comparison to a logo like Apple but if you keep it clean, even busier logos can be effective and memorable. This kind of goes along with the comment above about a logo needing to also work in black and white. If there are a ton of colors and elements that overlap without separation, the logo will (1. be expensive to screen print or offset print and (2. won't translate well if printed in black ink. These are just a few things that us designers know (or should know) that the general public usually doesn't. Let me know if you have any questions and I wish you the best of luck with your contests! 12 years ago jdarley Client Thanks for the pointers! 12 years ago NerdyBird Logo Designer Would you happen to have any other feedback or requests? I am beyond excited about this group of contests, I'd like to do whatever I can to give you what you are looking for. Thanks for your dedicated participation in this contest- surprisingly, all contest holders aren't as active. 12 years ago jdarley Client Hello, good timing, was just getting to some more comments for you!We really like what you have done with all three of your contests, but we think they need to be tied togehter a little stronger. The Culebra and Vieques logos have the water swipe below, not sure if that could be incorporated into the Spanish Vigin Islands logo? If you could take a creative approach to really tie these together that would be great! 12 years ago NerdyBird Logo Designer Unfortunately, I had a wedding this weekend and could not complete your request before the contest went into judging mode, which means that I cannot submit designs as the 2nd ranked designer. 12 years ago
