Thank you for reviewing my entries.

Hi -- can I please see #30 without the words "Grocery Store" and with the year 2012 instead of 2011? And could I see #30 with a location name (use "Greensboro, NC" for now) where you currently have "Grocery Store?" So for example, if we opened more than one location we would list the name of each city where "Grocery Store" is right now. Let me know if that direction isn't clear or doesn't make sense.

Could I see versions of #31 and #32 without the star and with another simple graphic image more related to the business? For example a cow, wedge/wheel of cheese, barn with silo, pasture or anything else you can think of...

Lastly, I like the look and feel of your work and would be interested in seeing any other ideas you may have. Especially something that incorporates a clean graphic image or mark.

Thank you.

Thank you for appreciating my work.
Please see the revised versions.

I really like #59...I think I like the cleaner framing and the bolder lettering. As much as I love the farmstead image you used, I wonder if it looks too much like signage for a farm versus a retail food store...? Is there a graphic that could incorporate or represent the concept of what we sell versus where we get it from? For example: milk bottles, cheese, meat, bread, etc. -- in a way that doesn't look silly/cartoonish or too busy/detailed? Or do you have a different idea to communicate "community grocer of local/regional cheese, meat and other foodstuffs" via an image in this sort of logo?

Also, can you show me an example -- it can be #59 exactly as it looks now -- with the town Southern Pines, NC instead of Greensboro, NC? That is the location of our first store and I just want to see if that town name looks awkward with the name Southern Whey.

And lastly, if I select one of your logos, would you be willing to continue a working relationship ongoing beyond the conclusion of the contest to tweak the logo for various applications?

Thank you for prompt response and great work.

Thank you!
Here is the revision you`ve requested (#65). I flipped the image horizontally so you can see how it would look that way, too. I also changed the name of the location.
To answer your questions:
I think the farm image is the best idea for several reasons:
- it is the place from where all the goods are coming from: milk/cheese, meat, eggs etc. It encompass them all.
- if you want to use the logo on various items (mugs, grocery aprons etc), the simple the image would be the least problems would appear when imprinting the logo.
- with all due respect, I think it would be weird to have grocery aprons imprinted with a logo which contains milk bottles, sliced bread, cheese wheels and so on. Simply it wouldn't look like a whole. On the other hand, a farm would express best all these products and their provenance.
- I usually send the final files accompanied with various file formats. If the client wants extra files, I always work with him/she until he/she is completely satisfied with the result.
If you have more questions, just ask.
Regards.

Thank you for making that revision so quickly...it looks good. I think I like the graphic flipped in this direction.

And those are all fair points regarding the farmstead image.

Regarding my last question, it was less about file formats and more about future applications of the logo. For example -- designing business cards, T-shirts, letterhead, menus, hang-tags, etc. Wondering if you would be willing to work on these types of projects to tweak and/or embellish the core logo for these particular applications assuming your logo is selected? And if you're willing, would this be on an hourly rate, or how do you work?

Thanks...

I do only logo design but I can highly recommend you a friend of mine (graphic designer) who does everything which implies corporate branding (business cards, letterhead, brocchure, T-shits etc)
I know he doesn`t work on an hourly rate. He usually gives a price for the entire project as long as the requested revisions are of common sense (the price is based on the estimation of the time he will spend on that project)
Thanks for everything so far.

Got it -- thanks.

A few more versions of #65, please...

Can you replace "Southern Pines, NC" with the following options:

Community Grocer
Cheese (graphic dot/symbol) Meat (graphic dot/symbol) Provisions
Cheese & Other Goods
Cheese & Other Foodstuff

Thank you very much...

My business partner (also known as my husband) really wants to see #65 with products that we sell instead of the farmstead image. So back to my previous question -- can you please send me a couple of different versions with a product image where the farmstead is? Examples -- milk, cheese, meat, bread, etc. -- either individually or in various groupings. I tend to agree with your POV on this, but also understand him wanting to at least see a couple of illustrations to tangibly compare. Thank you...

(You can keep the "Southern Pines, NC" for these examples -- thanks.)

Thank you for such great design work -- I'm really happy with where things are. I have two questions/ requests:

1. May I please see one more version of #78? I know this isn't the direction you would go, but we're still a "house divided" here, so I'd like to see another iteration of this same grocery idea -- maybe with different shaped images (especially the milk bottle), different orientation, different placement, or whatever else you can imagine.

2. I really like everything about the farmstead version, #75. The only element I'm truly undecided about is the wording between "Southern Whey" and "Est. 2012." I like "Cheese * Meat * Foodstuff" (which I need you to design); "Southern Pines, NC" #65; and "Community Grocer" #73. And I almost feel like there could be different situations in which one wording choice might be more appropriate than another. So if I select this as the winning logo is there a way for me to secure all three word versions? Please let me know how this could work...

Thanks again, I think we're almost there.

It wasn`t my intention to "divide your house" in terms of preferences.
On the other hand, I`ve just submitted a new version with "Cheese * Meat * Foodstuff" (#79)
And now I will try to answer your questions:
- I don`t see why I couldn`t provide you all the versions you need since all the designs are especially made for your contest. You can have them all (if you want) as long as you indicate me their number. For ex.: #65, #73, #79 etc
- I will try another approach for entry #78 but it may take a while. It would be very helpful if you could indicate me what exactly you didn`t like (for ex, how do you want the milk bottle to look like?)
Thank you for your precise guidance and for your active involvement in the contest.
All the best.

#81 is perfect for that direction!!! Thank you for pulling that one off so well -- I have to admit that even I like it more than I expected.

I'm going to sleep on it and will be back in touch tomorrow to finalize things. Thanks again for all your hard work. I'm really excited about what we've got.

Cheers!

I've pulled a couple of trusted advisors into the process and -- believe it or not -- momentum is building for #81. (Even with me!)

One last thing I'd like to try for #81 -- is there a way to make cheese more prominent in the image (e.g. different size, stack of cheese wheels with a wedge, different orientation, etc.)? Even if this means altering or removing other items in the image. American farmstead cheese is our core product so we don't want that to fade into the background.

Thank you!

More cheese #82

What about making the cheese the tallest/most prominent item in the center of #82, possibly bringing back the other elements that were removed from #81? I like the variety of shape and texture in the image for #81 better at the moment.

Just so you understand our insanity here, we're not sure we're going to carry milk in the shop, and the hubby is worried that we are setting inaccurate expectations to feature milk so prominently.

We're probably taking the logo image a little too literally, but wondering what a "cheese feature" version would look like.

Thank you.

The cheese (I hope not "cheesy") version #85
13 years ago

It's been a tough debate, but I think we're sold on #83 with a few minor questions/possible tweaks:

1. There's something about the leaves over the bread... I LOVE the leaves -- it's one of the things I missed from other versions -- but I wonder if they're a little too much like bunny ears here? Thoughts on adjusting them just the TINIEST bit...?

2. Let's skip any period after "NC" -- just "Southern Pines, NC" -- without any punctuation.

3. Can you move the period between "EST" and "2012" closer to "EST" so it looks like it's the period for the abbreviation? It might look better in the middle for balance (where you have it), but I'd like to see it closer to "EST" since it makes more literal sense in that position.

4. I'm a little concerned about the font for "Southern Pines, NC" -- it looks like there's a line running through it, and I'm afraid that is going to make it hard to read in a small font size. Is there any way to alter/improve that, or would that mean selecting a different font? Thoughts on how to handle...?

5. I'd like to have a version of #83 as is, AND one without "Southern Pines, NC" included. Could you create a version without the city/state, please?

I can't tell you how happy I am with how this logo turned out. It's really not the direction I had anticipated going, but I think it's terrific. Thank you for being such an astute and thoughtful listener. Great work.
