You are so talented so it is so difficult to give you feedback on your logo. It is unique, so well done.
Design: For me, when I saw it, I knew family law right away. But, I also felt a little emptiness by the other side of the scale. Just so you know, I am not sold on having a pictoral logo at all. I really like your ballpark design logo and think that perhaps there is something you can do with just the name. If you want to experiment at all, what I have not yet seen, is an emblem logo - something circular and contained may be what I need. I also have not yet seen anything thus far that has a "I can save you" element to the design...
Font: The font I like so far is the thick caps or small caps font. I like it to look more bold and masculine.
Colors: I think I may favor a black background so perhaps you can play with that?
The other idea that just came to mind was a mosaic - something colorful, design is up to you, but the concept behind a mosaic is that the pieces are broken, unique and irregular but when put back together can actually be quite beautiful. Family law is all about putting lives back together. Slogan-wise, I am struggling with one, but perhaps "Putting the pieces together." I defer on that one...just an idea.
