Thanks for the start guys. Just for clarification, we like the elements in our existing logo but it's just not "there" yet. Looking for some great brains to take it where it needs to go. Needs to fit on a hat for one thing, and of course lend some indication of what we do. The elements right now are a heron (wade fishes skinny water plus looks like my partner), plus a trout and a redfish tail, with the whole general idea surrounded by the illusion of a hook. That doesn't mean that is all that will work though.

As far as existing comments, #1 needs to also be a jewelery designer, #3 & 4 would make a great T-shirt (really like the fish skin idea), and #7 & 8 are getting more practical for embroidery but look a bit cartoonish for our application. Looking for the ultimate cool factor. Ace of wands....train me and tell me why you went away with a withdrawal.

Let's think about this... Perhaps just an emblem type of representation, for say the front of a hat or a cool sticker. We can add whatever text later. 'Life is a Trip!" may fit below the design and that would be cool, but we'll probably just put SkinnyWaterAdventures.com on the back.

I'd encourage you guys to look at our little home made website if you get a chance to get the feel of it all. It's primitive but the content is there if you'll dig a bit...especially on some of the videos so you can see exactly what we do everyday.

Thanks all. Art is something we really appreciate.

PS...not sure what the rules are as far as "copying" patterns and such, but we have no problems with variations of existing and hope nobody else does either. However, something with the same type of projection that is totally new would be awesome. Anybody like to fish? We'll throw in a trip as well and give you credit in Texas Saltwater Fishing Magazine. Let's have some fun here.

Have we done something wrong? Eight entries and only 3 days left? Do we need to change any parameters or suck up to the artist guild?

Just kidding, but we eagerly await. I can't find how to extend the date. Thanks...

Hey McTrout, usually the contest holder ranks the entries, which shows which direction the designers should go. You'll find by ranking the entries in your order of preference, more designs will flow through and you'll get more out of logo tournament and a better result for your logo. As for extending the date, the moderators can tell you where to find it. I can write in the designer forum to get you help with that because I have no idea where you would find it. Hope this helps. :o)

Hi McTrout
Raking entries is kinda like playing the game Hotter & Colder. The closer to No. 1 the Hotter we are so we know which direction to go! Designers usually join more contests (even if the money is less) where the ranking is taking place because at least they can earn some points even if they don't get first place. I'll be back after my dentist gets through with me and see if I can hook up with some ideas. (pun intended)

PS if you really don't like something or just going totally in the wrong direction go ahead and click it Not Interested, but in general the more you rank the better. Another tip maybe to; print the thumbnails out and use a pencil to rank them then next time you login you can enter your rankings.

Thanks guys. Have to go out of town for at least the rest of the day, but will try to start a ranking deal as soon as I can sit back down. Y'all have fun out there and hook up your creativity (sorry, I know that was bad)
Our clients are hounding us for the most superlative fishing logo/ fishing hat to ever grace the flats, so let's see what 'ya got!

O.K. Thanks. Y'all be easy on us here because we don't know the protocol, but will try. Will try for a ranking deal also, but that sure seems hard at this point. Hate to rank good work low because it doesn't quite fit our application, but also hate to rank submissions high for the same reasons.

Here's some feedback. Hate me, but being objective doesn't always make friends. Here's what we're looking for:
1. Has to fit on the front of a hat, which probably means few gradients in color as that would be hard/expensive to duplicate with embroidery, etc.
2. Must lend a clue to what we do. In other words, someone needs to automatically assume these people fish...and are hard cores at that. ( Wish we could do a Nike swoosh thing, but...)
3. The silly cartoon approach isn't us. We're a little more serious than that. If we want to include character type stuff (which indeed our existing logo is), let's try to make it intriguing. Not "dark" per say...just not airy or dorky light. Does that make sense?
4. The standard pure text thing we can do ourselves. I know that is a standard approach, but I suspect we can do better than that. Not saying we are anybody, but we are the busiest guides on the entire coast and our people want something really cool to say they have 'been there'. I am the lead feature writer for the biggest saltwater magazine down here and Capt. Tricia is the anchor writer. Need an emblem type of deal that just flat out exudes "kick ass". Again, wish we could do a Nike swoosh thing. Marketing at it's finest, but only if you're in that league.
5. If we are going to include fish, let's make sure they are either regionally correct or a good killer
abstracts. We fish for speckled trout and redfish.

Anyway, thanks to all as this is fun. All of you people have talent beyond what most of us can conceive, so thanks for trying to make our impact be all it can be. Y'all need to know that for some of us, the symbol that represents you is big...way big. Take us there!

Sorry, just saw your question K Carroll. We are all baitcasting (level winds, no or very little spinning reels). We mostly throw topwaters and soft plastic tails. There's a bunch of pictures on the reports page at www.SkinnyWaterAdventures.com

Thanks!
