What We Do
Build, install and monitor waste water treatment systems designed for individual residential and commercial sites. These systems will eventually replace traditional polluting septic tanks and deteriorating municipal sewer infrastructure and associated large scale waste water treatment plants. During later phases we anticipate the capability to re-cycle and re-use on site a large majority of the restored waste water output from residential and commercial sites.
Industry
Manufacturing & Wholesale
Color Preferences
Strong earthy tones with a bias toward blue and green; possibly grey or black as accent color
No yellow, red, orange
Our Ideas & Additional Information
- Although our business focuses on water, don’t feel confined to water imagery
- Vision statement -- "Shechem Industries is dedicated to restoring the worldwide fresh water supply using a process designed by our Creator, harnessed by men and implemented in a manner that honors God and delights the people we serve."
- We are leaning toward Adobe Myriad Pro (san-serif) and Adobe Minion Pro (serif) fonts, but we're open to other fonts used in the mark

#1-#3 The colors are too soft. We need something stronger (at least for any blues and greens). Your initial attempts may have been thrown off by our use of the phrase "earthy tones" in the contest brief. I changed that to "Strong earthy tones."

#1-#2 We don't want "INC" in the logo; so I revised the contest brief business name to just "Shechem Industries"

#1-#2 If we emphasize one word in the name over the other, let's emphasize "Shechem" and not "Industries."

#2 - The visual balance between the mark and the name is skewed. We want a strong mark since we will on occasion use the mark alone (on that note we'll want a file of the chosen logo with and without the name

** All designeers remember to explore marks that aren't variants of water droplets. We want to see a mixture of marks that remind the viewer of water and more abstract concepts.

#4 -- Please give us some stronger colors in the mark. Remove INC from the name. Put "Industries" under "Shechem" and adjust the character spacing as necessary so that the overall width of Shechem and Industries are the same

All Designers -- Please give us some WORD ART ideas (don't feel constrained to the corporate fonts designated in the brief). We also welcome more ABSTRACT ideas.

#5 -- Interesting concept. We like the use of colors blending from black to blue projects the notion of restoring water quality. On the down side we fear the mark may be overly busy/complex.

#8 -- We like the simplicity of this mark; although our first reaction was that it reminded us of a shop that sells surf boards.

Client
#24 -- We like the mark very much. We also like the style and sizes of the font. Please modify the logo to give us a perspective of each of these:
- All greens
- All Blues
- Mark in Greens while logo remains in black
- Mark in Blues while logo remains in black

# 25 -- We like the colors and simplicity of the mark. Please vary the text in these possibilities:
- "Industries" under "Shechem"; The words can have the same margin or you can reduce the margin of Industries to embolden Shechem

please, increase the size of the font. The present visual impression is heavily weighted toward the mark. We want to increase the size of the name relative ot the mark.

#18 We like the simplicity and eye catching aspect of the mark. We would also like to see different, more structured fonts. See design #24 for a more appropriate font. Also see our January 18 advice to design #4

#20 -- We like the concept of the wave. However, please modify the logo to contain more powerful, darker blues. We'd also like to see a variation with only the name and wave underneath the name. In both variations please use darker colors in the name. The ratio and color change of the font beteween Shechem and Industries is fine, just start Shechem in a darker blue.

#51 We received some professional advice that elevated your design to #1 for now; however, we need some changes
- delete the wave symbol underneath the name; it's distracting and adds no value to the overall logo
NAME:
- Use the Adobe Myriad Pro font for the name with both "Shechem" and "Industries" in all caps
- Mimic the relative font sizes of "Shechem" versus "Industries" in #35; except move "Industries" closer to "Shechem" than shown in #35
- Use the same the coloration in the words "Shechem" and "Industries" as used in your #51
- Mimic the relative size of the mark and name block in #35
- It appears that the color of "Shechem" is slightly darker than the bottom wave in the mark. Make the color of the bottom wave in the mark the same color as the "Shechem" word. Then make the color of the lower of the two middle waves the same color as presently used in the bottom wave of the mark. Leave the colors of the top two waves in the mark unchanged. This means that the mark will now be four different shades of blue.
MARK
- This last request is more subjective and difficult to explain...The present weighting of the middle two waves appears a bit off both from horizontally and vertically; so please give us several different treatments of the waves in the mark.

#30 -- Like #51 we also received a strong support for your design from several marketing professionals. However, we would like to see a few changes:
- Maintain the sharp corner in the upper right portion of the mark, but please round off the other three corners more
- Give us an alternative in green shades
- We're a bit concerned that the color transition in the mark border may be difficult to consistently reproduce in various applications. Please give us some different coloration treatments of the border.

Client
#71 & #72 -- No, you misunderstood. I did not want you to square off the mark. Instead, I wanted you to give the three rounded corners a larger arc/radius. Additionally, please follow the advice I gave to #51 today at 4:35pm EST in the USA regarding the fonts and sizes of the name. "Industries" is too small in your latest submissions. We like your concept, please keep working with us to refine it.
