group dancing together - very impression style with no clear definition of type of dance - in shades of green! the "e" is slightly larger and raised up a bit for subtle emphasis.
So we have a request or two: Is there any to make the figures "move" more or look a little more like they're dancing, instead of just hands above head? (Although I really like how they overlap.)
And could I see what it looks like with a lowercase "dance company"?
Much better. I really get the motion. After looking at it for a while, however, I do get the impression that they're being sucked down a drain or are in the middle of a hurricane or something. I know it might sound small, but if one of their arms was pointed in a different direction it might help. Just an idea. (I have to laugh, because it sounds like I'm trying to choreograph stick people ;)
ha! wish you could stand over my shoulder to choreograph this... feel free. it is a bit tricky to get the legs to overlap properly but I can modify it any way you suggest... you are an artist too!
Thanks-- do a google image search for "arabesque". It's a position with one arm up, one out, one supporting leg straight down, and one out at an angle. You could try that. I also just searched "jazz dance" are there some great poses (although they might be a little advanced for our stick figure dancers ;)
I can try - the key to my design working is the legs overlap a bit so not sure how I would make one leg up in the air on them... but hand/arm poses are more flexible. Also I want to keep it at a pose that doesn't say any one type of dance per your original request. I just was working with a new dance studio in Colorado and their new logo definitely says ballet (doing lapel pins for them) - but they do all types of dance at their studio. Think maybe your idea is better to make it more generic. I will play with it a bit more later today. Hope I can stay on top in your contest!
Well your design is definitely my favorite so far (as you can tell by the rankings), but I've invited feedback from not only my boss and co-workers but from the kids and parents of the Dance Company itself, so there are a lot of opinions to take into account now. I have no idea how it's going to end up, but I do love how powerful, simple, and iconic your work is.
FYI - the #1 ranked designer can tweak designs during the judging period - so we can still adjust the dancers, the circle or any other detail on this concept.
Thanks for all your great feedback - this is such fun! Makes me want to learn to dance!
Sorry it didn't work out. It was my personal fave, but I don't make the decision alone. I really appreciate how much you worked with me on the design. Keep at it!
