We've chosen this design as our winner, as we feel the grayscale version will be more universally recognizable than a color version, especially since we'd like to incorporate multiple color variations further in the future.
According to LogoTournament's info, the winning package contains the selected logo in an EPS format, with additional JPG or PNG files available. A black-and-white version or various color options are available upon request, as a single JPG/PNG. In this case, could we receive a JPG of one colored version -- Logo #55 -- in addition to the standard EPS/JPG logo package?
Also, we'd like to work with you in the future, when we begin to incorporate different color variations of the logo for different areas of the festival. Could you give us your information so we can contact you to request more design work in the future?
Sreekantg, We are thinking that a blend between #124 and #123 is what we're looking for. 124 is very light, and 123 is just slightly too dark to see the texture. We would like it to be visible but still subtle.
This logo (or perhaps per your suggestion, just a black and white or maybe black and grey where the textures are in the reel) would be the main anchor for festival logo.
We were thinking that when we are in full swing and able to put on a special children's series, we would use a color variation like your #24. The more adult off-kilter series would use something like #50... Does that sound feasible?
We are new to logotournament so unfamiliar with the specific rules about requesting variations. The question would be, once we assign this logo (or maybe the grayscale version of this) as the winner, is that when we discuss how to incorporate some of the color variations we've seen?
I'm a brand consultant in a leading ad agency and based on my experience, i would suggest the following.
Generally speaking, usage of color variations in a logo is very common, it changes along with it's background. This logo however, is unique in it's color palette and aesthetics. In this specific case, using color variations, as sub references to the same brand, may cause ambiguity and would weaken the brand recall factor of the actual logo. As an alternative, I would suggest sticking with one variation of color as the main anchor for the brand use specific colored backgrounds to tag functions and events within the festival. The only variation that would not disassociate from the brand would be a grey scale version of the above logo.
If the logo had one specific solid color, it could easily register in the viewers mind and say you can use purple for foreign film category and orange for local film entry.
Having said this, if you still want to use a logo, which could take different colors for events, i would suggest going for a solid black or white logo that can blend in with different colors.
To answer the question you asked, Each variation will probably be considered as a unique logo (from a viewers perspective).
And about the color variations of the same would constitute new projects. Since the contest is not over, i cannot comment on what variations i can provide (in line with the rules of the site).
This remains our favorite design so far. We are considering the possibility of using it in various colors -- using one color palette as our main logo and other color palettes for specific functions within the festival (i.e., different color logos for different ticket levels, etc.) or for potential future offshoot events for our festival. Is each color variation considered its own unique logo? Or would our selection of this logo allow us to use it in multiple color variations?
This design is fantastic. You have had some great ideas that are clean and simple the way we're looking for. Are there any other ideas that you have had?
We like the overall feel and simplicity of this design, but the colors are a bit much right now. Would you be able to do a few variations with fewer colors per reel, and with more muted/earthy colors instead of the "hotter" red/orange colors?
