love this! thank you! are you able to incorporate the aged copper metal edges (as in the referenced image)? also, id like to see a version where the length is only 2 inches. i really only need one number showcased...perhaps a 22. id love to see some different font options for "RUST & BOLT" as well...some that feel very authentic to old rulers! but this is great! im comfortable having less words on either side too. You can get rid of 'industrial rustic' & replace 'furniture parlor' with 'repurposed vintage'. Also I'd love to see a bee silhouette symbol in here if possible.

still looking for the old copper edges on both ends of the ruler, like in the picture i posted. also is there a way to make the bee more elegant?

thanks peg! and really beating up the image, making it feel authentically old & weathered is what i really like. i feel entry 35 got closer to this 37 but if you could still take it further. please refer to the reference image. i look forward to your changes! and thanks so much!

Also I think I like the ampersand and font from entry 35 more than 37. I think all caps might work as well!

Peg,
Thanks for the latest. The ruler feels older and more worn. Thank you for adding copper too. Can the copper band be thick at the left edge of the ruler? I'm looking to feel the start of the ruler. The older-looking the better! Also I appreciate that you shortened the length but it feels like I may have cut it too short. Maybe instead of just one number, it can span a couple numbers to give you more room. I think seeing a '1' and '2' would be good.

I love the addition of the bee, but is it possible to tweak this bee so it feels older, more weathered, more faded - like more of an old stamp. Perhaps making a negative image of the current bee & making it more washed out? I attached a new bee image in the contest brief.

Lastly, can the thick line you created go above the text, so it's between the ruler measurements and the name of the shop? Thanks again. I'm excited about this image!!!!!

Peg,
I love what you've done here. Really awesome! The way you aged the wood and the copper feels very authentic. I love looking at it. I like the tones you've used for both the wood and the metal. Looks great! I'm still not feelin' the bee though. I'm not sure what's off about it for me...perhaps it could be more of a silhouette like the image I added in the contest brief. Additionally, I think you faded the dark red circle around the bee, but the bee itself still feels too pronounced. I feel that the bee itself needs to be washing away, fading into background. The red circle can remain in tact, if more muted. Less rounding on the edge of the ruler too please! And would it be possible to also see the words RUST & BOLT bolded more? Thanks again!

Hi Peg,
Thanks for the latest. I'm liking #66, but there are a few competing elements that feel like they need to be adjusted. I feel like the name of the store, the slogan and the bee emblem are all too cramped. I'd like Rust & Bolt to be in a slightly smaller font. The letters feel very stretched long vertically. Also, I think I'd be comfortable changing the positioning of the bold line above Rust & Bolt to somewhere else, or losing it all together, so all the text can feel more centered on the ruler, instead of shoved to the bottom.

Additionally I'd like to try something with the bee element. Instead of using a literal bee silhouette, which so far, has not 'landed' for me (so to speak)...I'm wondering if we could try doing more of an abstract mark creation to represent a bee. Using the letter 'B' itself, or perhaps mirror image 'B's next to one another to create an abstract element. I don't know if that would yield too much of a cutsey bumble bee look, but it's worth a shot. Or perhaps, I just put a letter 'B' in the red circle, so it's like a random stamp element. The answer is still eluding me.

Entry #76 - I like this layout! I like the idea of putting the circle in the center. Seeing it like this though truly confirms that I need to get away from a literal bee silhouette and go after more of an abstract mark for the bee. I'd love any concepts you have for that element.

Also, this layout neglects to account for the "and" in my name. I fear that if people saw this logo, they'd think that the name of my shop is "Rust Bolt". What are your thoughts?
