Minima, let's focus just on this one for now so you don't do a lot of extra work. I really like this one--as you should be able to tell from the current ranking. I do think I'd like to see it with a carrot instead of a fork, just to see. I hear you on it being just a vegetable, but that's the business I'm in right now! The fork often makes me think more of a restaurant than a product, so I see it possibly from a different point of view.

I put the fork so that the association with food was clear. Carrots are carrots and this can only be associated with vegetables.

Good morning (afternoon) Minima. So glad you jumped back in the competition. Thanks--really! Let's collaborate. :) I love your idea of minimum picture--maximum message. Wondering how this one might look w/ a carrot in place of the fork? Got some feedback from family and friends last night and much of the comments were that many of the logos were very generic and didn't tie to the products I'm making. I love the simplicity of this one and was just thinking that a vegetable instead of a fork might make it even stronger and more tied to what I'm making. Vegetables right now include napa cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, radishes, onions, scallions, and then also lots of different nuts. Don't want a salad for a logo... :) But thought perhaps a carrot in place of the fork might work well here. What do you think?

Minima, I agree that if that's the only question asked, then it's not a terribly helpful exchange. I am sorry we have gotten off track in terms of communication but I cannot accept all blame. I think you are very talented and I like your designs very much or I wouldn't have ranked them at all. If you were upset at the lack of interaction, I wish you would have reached out to say so rather than just pulling out, but it's your business and I accept it. Some others have reached out to ask for some feedback and insight into designs that were ranked highly. I share it with you now below to see what I have provided to others who have asked.

Thanks for submitting all of these designs! Here's what help I can offer right now, as my top ranked logos share a few qualities:

1) They all have some sort of image/logo that is separate from the "Rick's Real Food" font and text. Each is different in design, but each one has some sort of natural/organic/food/plant type of image, in addition to the text. Nearly all of your designs embed the text within the image.

2) Separating the image and text is critical for me for a few reasons
a) I like it.
b) I want to be able to use both the full logo (text and image) at times, but I also want to be able to use just the image without the text for things like web icons, t-shirts, hats, etc. So this is a must-have for me.

3) The logos I have ranked most highly so far each have a very subtle 'r' worked into the image in some way. The 'r' does not dominate in any of them--in no case is it just a large r or R with some leaves or something on it. The 'r' is embedded very subtly into the design of the image in ways that I find very inspiring.

Logo design should be interaction.
Asking questions only about whether you like it is pointless.

Apologies if you feel that I have been unresponsive or uncooperative in any way. I do not have a single question or request from you, so while I'm disappointed that you feel as you do, communication must be two-way to be effective. If you have other expectations, it would be most helpful to know that so I can work with you differently. Most other designers have been proactive with questions for me. 14 is still a high ranking as a designer because I have multiple designs for most designers in my rankings. Finals take top 5 designers, not top 5 logos.

This is my first time doing this, so learning as I go. Hope that there are no hard feelings. Thank you again for all your efforts and designs, which I still like. Wish you all best.

Hi Minima, I was really sad to see you withdraw all of your entries, especially after I moved them all up in our rankings today. Apologies that this contest has gone on for so long. Can you pls tell me why you chose to withdraw? The feedback on your designs was really positive from my family and I was really hoping that you would be a finalist. Obviously, it's your call, and we'll understand and support whatever decision you make, but I hope you'll reconsider. You are currently in our top 5 rankings, making you a finalist.

Minima, just want to give a quick bit of feedback--I was able to get some initial feedback from some folks who will be collaborating w/ me on finalists and final selections. They agreed with me that we definitely want you to be a finalist. People really liked your submissions. Understand now that you say it. Didn't know that you were even able to see the rankings, but now it makes more sense to me. I am so completely new to this...I thought the rankings were blind too. Pls know that the order within the rankings for me are not meaningful at the moment. I am putting all designs I like in the ranked category and ones I am 100% sure I don't want in the not interested column. I am not making this decision in a vacuum and nobody besides me has seen any of the logos yet. I am using the ranking column to include all of the ones I find compelling so that my colleagues and friends helping out can all take a look. I didn't actually lower the rankings--I just dragged a few new designs over. Wasn't even thinking about the specific rankings, honestly. Too soon for me to do that.

I sincerely hope that you won't read into the rankings yet, though I do understand where you're coming from. Thanks for your submissions--I love that you're involved and I love many things about your work!

Minima, I love your work and I had this particular logo in my favorites category. I definitely want others in my selection committee to be able to see this one if you don't mind reinstating it. So delighted that you chose to participate. Love your creativity and the simplicity of this design. The hard thing for me right now is to narrow things down...I have so many great ideas that it's really now incumbent on me to sort out what's most important. Hi Minima, I love the simplicity and cleanliness of this design and I also like the use of different font cases for the main and subtexts. I have found that I prefer designs that are pure trees or plants without the fork included. If I may make any requests, I'd love to see one or two things: 1) an inverted/negative version; 2) a straight tree or plant without the fork; and 3) a version that adds in some color (can be mixed or single color, just love to see it in something other than straight black, even though I'm happy to have seen it in straight black and white too!
