I hope you do very well! I am delighted to help you. Cheers! 4 years ago rickwynn commented on #393 Withdrawn That's awesome! Thanks so much! You can tell this food passion for me is for real!!! Very gracious of you to entertain me w/ these comments and information. Very best to you. Gracias! 4 years ago dapc79 commented on #393 Withdrawn Hello Rick! I prefer the marraqueta bread, because it is more crunchy and it is the one that was prepared at home as a family. But now the kneaded bread or frica is used a lot and it looks great too, it is traditional. The green bean should be green and fresh. The traditional chacarero has sliced green chili and the veins and seeds are left to give it itch, if it does not want spicy it removes the seeds and veins so that the characteristic aroma and flavor of green chili remains. I send a link of the sandiwch, obviously it depends on the taste and amount of ingredients, it is for you to see and get an idea of how the traditional "Chacarero" sandwich is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXyRW7A_aWQ 4 years ago rickwynn commented on #393 Withdrawn Hey, thanks!! Quick question: which of the three breads do you prefer and which do you think makes the best sandwich? Second question--at the Boston location, they have a green hot pepper sauce, assume it's a version of aji verde, but many of the recipes I see just put sliced aji chilis directly on the sandwich. Which is more traditional? They also have a very spicy habanero sauce which I like a lot too, but I don't see most Chilean cuisine/recipes using particularly spicy, hot peppers. 4 years ago dapc79 commented on #393 Withdrawn that's right, this country has a lot of diversity of climates and places You can meet many people in the world like to visit the south of Chile too. The "Chacarero" is a typical sandwich here, very delicious. The recipe I am sending is a typical bread from here which is called "Pan Amasado" and also serves to make the "Chacarero" The Chacarero sandwich has: - Pan Frica, Pan Amasado or Marraqueta - Beef - Tomato - Green beans - Mayonnaise - Green pepper (this ingredient is characteristic for its flavor and aroma that it brings to the sandwich) Here is a link to the sandwich https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chacarero http://www.chilenacocina.com/chacarero-sandwic/ 4 years ago rickwynn commented on #393 Withdrawn p.s., here's one that seems pretty close to me, but I will defer to you! https://www.chileanfoodandgarden.com/country-chilean-bread/ 4 years ago rickwynn commented on #393 Withdrawn Thanks dapc79 for your very gracious response. I wish you and your family all the best too. I had the chance to visit Chile in 2002 and Santiago and Chile remain one of my favorite places I've ever been. I hate to see your country experiencing political and government difficulties, but the people of Chile were so kind and friendly and the food was some of my favorite that I've ever had anywhere in the world (and I've traveled a lot!). In Boston, we have a sandwich shop called Chacarero that has always been one of my favorites. I don't think they are truly traditional, as they have an avocado spread on them, but I understand that there are so many variations of "sanguches" (sp?) in Chile, that there may not be one single definition of a chacarero. I have been searching for an authentic bread recipe for chacareros for a long time. I have found recipes for many types of South American breads, but it's still not clear to me what traditional chacareros are made with. At the restaurant in Boston, it is a light, white, relatively flat, round bread. The bread is fairly soft and easy to chew and allows the grilled steak or chicken and the green beans, tomatoes and aji sauce stand out--the bread is good, but does not dominate the flavor of the sandwich. Please send me a link for the real deal chacarero if you know of one! I hope you, your family and your wonderful country all fair well through this difficult time. I sincerely hope to bring my family to visit Chile again soon! Be well and thanks again. Rick 4 years ago dapc79 commented on #393 Withdrawn Hello! Thank you very much for your words. Would you mind so much just making the text change from Root's Fine Foods to Rick's Real Food? Thanks! 4 years ago rickwynn commented on #110 Withdrawn Daniel, thanks so much for submitting designs in this contest! The pleasure is mine too, and I sincerely apologize for the long delay in responding to your kind comment above. Been a rough couple of days, so I appreciate your patience, especially as a newbie in this contest space (me, not you of course). I'm so glad that you submitted a design. You are the only one that, so far, has submitted one that has an almost south american/native american/latin/mayan/aztec feel to it (for me at least--not sure that was your inspiration, haha). Those cultures are really important in what we're doing! That said, I think I am likely to not use that style here for really one reason only...If we were doing exclusively more native american/south american/latin themed products, I think it would be one of my top contenders. We're not... I'm so glad to have seen this because it took me seeing it to know that, while I love it and the inspiration behind it, I find as I look at it now, that it's a bit limiting for the brand we want to create. I am hoping that the feeling people get will be one of connection with plants, soil, farms and ancient cooking techniques that all work together to produce products with better bio-availability of nutritients and improved digestibility--all in, more healthy and nourishing for our bodies. I am hoping that I can transcend a particular type of cuisine (e.g., Peruvian/Mayan/Andean/Latino) and be more of a health conscious brand for serious foodies. Hope that helps! If not, pls don't hesitate to ping me back. Sorry again for leaving you hanging and thanks so much for participating in our contest!! 4 years ago dapc79 commented on #110 Withdrawn Hello is a pleasure to greet you, it's an honor to be participating in your contest.
