Hi thanks for the submission. I love the execution of your designs and the simplicity of #21. Although it is not immediately apparent that it is a reel and I assume the inner portion are circuits.

I also like the font. A slightly bolder version might be good too. And a version with only lower case letters might be interesting. There is a direction i like and that I've encouraged with another designer #17 and #18 (krakatau).

I really want the logo to illustrate how the entertainment business has transformed from analog to digital. From reel to bytes. From reels to code, from reels to 1s and 0s, reels to bits. etc. The film strip to microchip idea could be executed much better.

Very creative. I'm impressed. I like what you were going for with #29 but the 'r' gets lost. My preference for the logo is a close to square icon and it should be wider than high, meaning the the icon/logo should be on the left of reelbytes like in #29 and #31. #31 is probably cleaner an easier to read. "bytes" while elegant could be slightly bolder or same weight than reel. It's looks a bit too delicate right now.

As far the icon is concerned, it's fresh and modern and I really like it. Although it's not entirely clear what it is. It looks a bit like a musical note because But I guess that's what the word 'reelbytes' is for. ;-)

Maybe you can do a variation of #29 and #21 where the reel looks less like a musical note but where it "unspools" underneath "reelbytes" and the right most part of the film strip turns into bits/bytes.... basically fragments.

I keep coming back to #21 because I like the simplicity of the reel.

Hi oeberle,

i had to work fast since each concept by designer is unique and cannot be copied by another designer, that is the reason things have to be pretty quick here. thanks to your comments it helps me to get close to your final results :)

i will tweak the change you requested and get back soon,

thanks

Hi.. thanks for the new submissions. Can you do a variation on #43 where you replace the reel with the one in #21 and then at the tip of the film trip you could add little 1110001011001101 so it looks like the reel is emitting digital information?

Also maybe try one version with the same font of #43 and one with the font #21.

yes #51 and #52 are both great. the little dots are inspired. can't decide if i like the reel-right version better or the reel-left version. they're both great. adding the shading looks really good. and we'd be using that in a variety of situations.

the green dot provides a nice balance, but i wonder if a square might be better. anyway. we can always play with that later.

are you doing this in illustrator?

Hi oeberle,

I always loved team work and its not only my effort its your guidance really doing the magic here. yes im working on illustrator. we can decide on square or circle like you said later since we need to balance the logo first.

thanks

Hi my name is Oliver btw ;-)

Yes, I love when things are coming together like that. Really good work. I like #56 better than #57 although it might be a little too busy now. The good part is that provides perspective and creates a source for the reel.

I'm good with #54 and #51 as a basic for further tweaks. But if you want to try one more thing, you could try replacing the dot with a couple of half circle as if the reel was emanating sound or data or wireless radio

Ha... interesting. maybe a little too music oriented. i have another brand we want to create for that "Tunescape".

But for reelbytes think i'm ok with what we have with #54 and #51. and the reel in #21 makes for a good favicon and icon for mobile apps. thanks for a great effort!

Yes. I think I will just end this contest early. You are clearly the winner. Would it be possible that you send me the illustrator files for #60, #51, #54, #56 and #21 when you deliver the files?

Hmm. I kinda liked the dots. One thing that might be cool is if you replace the dots with a few 101001 that are extending the current strip but are black on white background so that is negates for last half inch or so.

Strange. Since I comment on most of the designs I guide the direction of the concepts behind them which will make the logos between designers similar. It actually my intent to see who can execute better and brings some creativity to the table. Anyway, let me know when everything is resolved. We can remove the dots if it should become a problem.
