I like the simple, but strong and clear font (RCH). I also like the "every guest is ..." how you did it in #26-29. Actually I don't mind about lettering too much at this point, there are a couple of good suggestions in the contest and I am sure that can be done easily, I am more concerned about the Pictorial we got so far.
Your's is ok regarding style, but I want something more "Red Carpet Hostel specific" and "funky" or "funny". There are no mountains in Vienna at all. Try to combine our Assets in one outstanding pictorial: Backpacker, Celebrity, Fun, Hollywood, Red Carpet, Champagne - that's what people should get from seeing our logo!
idk, maybe a backpacker in a Tuxedo?! The silhouette of a woman in a fancy dress but in hiking shoes ?! - I am really not the creative one out here, but I think you got the message :)
and don't get distracted by our current Website please! there are no limitations regarding shape, style and coloring! Your posts so far were kind of too close to what we have already and too much concentration on the lettering.
In a nutshell: RCH Lettering: just fine. Every guest is a celebrity: underneath the RCH, ok for now too. A Pictorial next to the lettering: more funkyness!
I love your "reiseautkion online" entry. maybe you have an idea how to do something like that for our needs. Also there is no need to go for the red background. at least don't feel constraint by it, if you have an idea how two make it work with a white background and other colors than red and gold - go for it!
I love your Font. Clear, young but serious. could work for our needs.
We are thinking about a "comic" character approach at the moment though.
what you think about that:
a) the lettering shold be straight, solid and serious, pretty much like you offered in #26 or #27. b) a mascot comic team, a boy in a tuxedo and a girl in a red dress. two backpackers (thus natural looking and not too much of a Pamela Anderson double) either carrying, sitting on or standing next to a backpack.
the two parts should be seperated fro each other, b) should be next to a), or above, not built into the lettering. So we could use the lettering for serious regards and the combination of both for addressing customers.
Right now I see the couple posing on the red carpet, him wearing sunglasses, her in a celebrity pose and flashlights surrounding them. Maybe you have another idea how to let the two approach our Red Carpet Hostels Lettering, but I think that could work!
Thank's allot for your feedback, honestly i'm not good make a character or cartoon logo, i will try my best for your logo need if you need more character logo designers i will invite other designer who have good work on it.
Thx for your newest entry. actually that is going into a right direction as well. up to now we have two options in mind. in both cases we want a font like you offered: clear, straight but bright and serious at once. regarding "metaphorical element" we either want a Pictorial, going into that direction you just offered, or a character as mentioned earlier. frankly speaking, it totally depends on what's going to be offered to us to decide what eventually will make the race.
Please, stick to the lettering and give us one or two more ideas regarding the pictorial (some more Hostel relatedness?!), but in the way of design of #59 - that looks cool and elegant at once. I like it. Oh, and just for comparison, put the pictorial left of the lettering please!
Wow, that's a whole bunch of Red Carpets :) Honestly, I like the idea and little elements like the stars sparkling and I like the background shapes, but the Cartoon carpet is too much of a cartoon for our needs. If "cartoon" than a backpacker ...
But I can yee your talent for pictorials, so let's give that approach a chance:
what if you take on of the background shapes you've used so far (either the "globe" from #31 or the "sun" from #67 or the circle in #64) and make a simple and funky emblem out of it, next to the lettering, looking as follows:
do you know the "hostelling international" logo? we could put a villa instead of the little hut in the center, put a fancy buxtree next to it and let the red carpet be rolling out.
The whole thing in a modern, stylish way like your #60 and #61 pictorials. Not too straight and serious, but not too cartoonish as well.
Emblem (left of the lettering): - emblem background: gimme all you had for comparison: #59, 65, 66. - put the house in the centre. maybe you find a variation for the house too. - change the sort of trees. we don't want a wood there, just one "box tree" (that's these little deco-trees, round cut leaves, slim bole) next to it. or maybe one on each side. - erase the golden carpet (where you had the tagline written into), let a red carpet be rolled out of the house.
maybe you want to put build some black into it too, as you did in #59.
I know that sounds like quite restrictive orders, please don't take them as such! I don't want to shorten your creativity, if you have a better feeling for another style, go for it, I just try to give some more precise directions ... you don't have to stick to every single of the above suggestions. play with them to make the whole thing look good.
We extended the contest to give us more time on refining, no that we know where we wanna go.
May I ask you to just throw in some alternatives regarding details, but sticking to that style at some point? I really like what we got but I think we're kind of stuck in some fixedness too. Variations in the building (maybe a little hotel-look alike Block building instead of the hut?), in coloring, in arrangement, ...
just to refresh the whole contest and get the best out of it, know that we know what kind of logo we want.
Can we try the following: Take a kind of #80 house, but put it in a #85 angle and let the red carpet be rolling out of the entrance, in a dynamic way as if it would be rolling down a hill for example.
Oh, and I would a need a version with a white background, just to see how that looks and to decide if want to go for the red background and lots of gold or the white bg with more red texting and pictorial...
#193 "Every guest is a celebrity" in black please #194 "Every guest is a celebrity in black" AND The pictorial bigger, as in #160 #193 and #194: and please try to make the sun even darker. it's too bright on white background.
And: I dont want the old wavy carpet (eg #190). I would like to see a version of the new carpet (eg #192) but in a wavy style! a red wave leaving the house! please give it a try.
