October 27th, 2011, 4:26pm General feedback. We prefer to have a design that is more of the Wordmark style (like amazon.com, Microsoft, Dell, FedEx, Prada), which has less emphasis on the graphical element(s). It would be good to see your great creative approach applied to the form of the letters themselves.
Specific feedback. #28 This seems most on target. Is it possible to modify the form of the letters themselves to connote Trustworthiness, Reliability, or Intelligence? #29 We've been trying to keep to the "wordmark" style (as defined by LogoTournament), but this simple graphical element is pretty good. #24 & 25 Maybe this general approach could work. 24 seems closer to the target than 25. Both of them seem a bit too whimsical to be the logo of a hedge fund. #23, 26 & 26 Maybe this general approach could work. Is it possible to modify the form of the letters themselves to connote Trustworthiness, Reliability, or Intelligence? My biggest concern with these is that don't have the gravitas one would expect for the logo of a hedge fund. #30, 31, 32 & 33 I'm having a hard time seeing these as being logos for a hedge fund.
#47 This is another very good entry! The font selection doesn't seem as solid and classic as one might expect for a hedge fund, where we're trying to convey those key ideas of Trustworthiness, Reliability, and Intelligence.
#46 The asymmetric underline element doesn't seem convey the key ideas of Trustworthiness, Reliability, and Intelligence. The treatment of the "v" is exactly the sort of thing we had in mind in terms of modifying the form of one (or more) of the letters, but I'm not sure how this treatment conveys our key ideas.
#47 The asymmetric underline element doesn't seem convey the key ideas of Trustworthiness, Reliability, and Intelligence. Making the "v" look like a check-mark seems like it would be good for a logo for a consumer brand, but since we are a hedge fund, I think we need to avoid anything that might seem "too cute".
PS When I move a logo "non interesting" basket, that is just my way of keeping track of things (as far as I can tell, there is no other easy way to keep track of which ones I've given feedback on). It is not meant to turn you off on the project.
Congratulations on being one of our top five. We've appreciated the effort and wonderful designs you've produced so far.
As we look at all the submissions across our top five, our main thought is the font selection and/or letter forms may not be as simple/classic as is appropriate for a hedge fund. Below are logos from three existing funds that we think capture this simple/classic look and feel, but we are open to other ideas you might have.
#118 is really nice. Can you try some minor variations on this one? Perhaps the first "R" in Recursive and the "C" in Capital could be larger? Perhaps the font for Capital could be darker? Any other minor variations you think might be appropriate for what we are trying to communicate?
#190, 191, 192, 193 & 194 I'm sorry I wasn't more clear about not needing any extra text in the logo. The only text required is "Recursive Capital". I should have mentioned that when I referenced the logos of the other funds.
Hi, Thank you very much for considering my design. I just submit some entries based on your request #221, #222, hope you love them. Let me know if you would like to see any further revisions...
Thanks for these great designs. For this last iteration, we are not looking for any big changes, just some minor tweaks before we make the final selection.
#221 is in the right direction, but it looks odd to have the first letter of each word be different in color from the rest of the word. Could you please try the following changes? (1) Change the first "R" in Recursive to be the same color as the rest of the word, (2) Change the color of the last six letters letters in Capital to match the "C", (3) try some variations in the font to avoid the current situation where parts of the letters are so thin they are difficult to see?
Thank you for the ranking and the feedback. Here are a couple of options for you. #268 the color of "Capital" using black 70% #269 the color of "Capital" using black 80%
for entry #255 the color of "Capital" using black 60% #260 the color of "Capital" using black 90%
These two (#269 and #268) are great. Now, I'm a bit concerned that the letters in "Recursive" are so dark that they may appear black. Can you try lightening up the blue for the "Recursive" letters a bit? I don't think they need to be as light as the #256.
