#17 is closest so far: We like the heavy, clean font. And the use of font/color to distinguish between the two words, real & gravity, without the need to capitalize or space them.
The harder part of our design need is to establish the symbol at the left of the logo that can stand on its own, and be animated as a "video loading" animation. We run a lot of hosted video players around the web, and many peopl will encounter our brand for the first time through this symbol alone. We don't know exactly what it shold look like, and thaat is what we need help with from you. A few things to consider though:
1) While e do not need an animation from you, we will have an animator do this after the contest, and so you should make it something which CAN be animated. You have succeeded in this aspect with all of your designs so far.
2) It should e very simple so that it can be reduced, (again, this is why your designs are closest in our opinion so far
3) It needs to be unique enough that as we gain more and more traction, that our symbol is immediately recognizable by those who know us, and that it is memorable and distinct nough that if you see it twice, you remember, and wonder who we are: This requirement is mutually exclusive with requirement #2 above, to some extent, and so that is the challenge: Create something unique and memorabl, but which is also easily reducable and simple as an animation. The best refernc i can think of is the 3D box animation that Brightcove uses when their player loads, for example. Can you try some more treatments of the symbol?
Can you think of a way to make a simple, combined "rg" into a simple symbol? This is not a goal, necessarily, but rather something that coms to mind. We assume we will do best with a unique, abstract symbol that is vidually tied to the fonts and colors you use.
It would also be good to see symbol treatment that are vertiacally aligned with the font in the logo.
Thank you for the extensive feedback. It is really important to me, and very crutial part of the logo development process. You did very good with the feedback part, most CHs don't. :)
You evaluation of my work means a great deal to me, so thank you.
I am glad that I successfuly covered some bases, and I will cover the rest aswell, make no mistake :)
I am starting the work on the things you requested right away.
this is good stuff...the RGB color notion was one we had not thought of. Can you do font without the gradient? Our web designer says we need flat colors. And any other ideas you have in this theme of "integrated parts" is what we like for the symbol: The "RG" does not reduce, or animate easily. Our service integrates a number of different video technologies to create a complete solution and the "venn diagram" idea works...as does the intersection of arrows...we like thos emore than the most recet attempt: We think it is important to keep it simple and clean, based on how we intend to use it.
#64 is cool and simple, but can you move the symbol to the left of the letters, and align it horizontally? We like that one a lot for its simplicity, but whatever we choose has to be aligned that way.
We think we are going with #163. Simple, retro feel...a dark horse entry, and we love it.
As a final change, please make the font colors solid, rather than a gradient. Also: We need the PSD files...not sure if we get them automatically. Will you be able to provide them?
