I really like the "signature" text. The "n" coming back is nice, but I think the fish in the R gets lost, and just looks cluttered. The colors in #52 are not quite right. They lok OK on Ray, but as a the border for the oval, I think it's too dark and a bit boring. Text within the oval is waaaay to hard to read. Remember, when used on TV, we're looking at a resolution of 72 dpi. Everything needs to be clean and bold. The text could float over the oval and leak out a bit to give it more room. Maybe push the color palate to a more metallic look, aluminum or gold?
Nice. Keep playing with different - more "bad ass" backgrounds. Maybe bring in some ocean elements (wave shapes in the reflection, colors, etc.). The gold oval is simple and elegant, and does not take away from the signature - which is good - but it's maybe too high-class for us. We're more of a billet aluminum thing than a polished fine metal.
The "Angling tactics..." text is still tough to read (i know it's a mouthful). Try a different font, something that contrasts the signature??? Hand-written printing instead of script?
How about signature sitting in a water puddle, with some sunglasses on the table? What do you think? Don't spend the time on it if you don't like the idea.
Let's try a completely different approach to the background.
Lose the oval, water.
Create a background "disk" that has very bold, sans serif path type around the top "Angling Tactics"... Around the bottom "& Techniques". Disk should be about 2/3 the size of the signature, and have a little bit of a 3D angle to it. Non metallic, I think.
Kinda like your "Spin" logo - but the signature extends well outside of the disk, and there's a distinctive layered look. See where I'm headed? Starts to look kind of like a college sports logo, with academic lettering that's easy to read. What do you think?
That's pretty sweet. Now, how do we get the signature (especially the "fish R") to not get swallowed up by the matching color in the disc? What's it like with an all "silver" signature over the blue or the dark red? Other ideas?
Kent- Ivan just cancelled the contest based on a request I made before you got your design in. I'm in the process of resurrecting it (hopefully) and you'll be the winner once I can talk a bit more with Ray.
