Brendan,
I've ranked your design number 6 first at this point in the competition. It works because the name is legible, the graphics are intuitive, and the design could be easily be translated into a sandblasted sign, printed materials, business cards, etc. I also like that the background color could be changed to match the bookstore's interior, website colors, etc. to provide direction as we select interior finishes for the bookstore and a website design. I also like that the logo looks like a medallion that would be placed on the front of a train. The logo feels warm and inviting, and looks professional.

Could you explore some other background colors?

Thank you so much for you excellent feedback. As you can see I can probably continue giving you color variations till the cow comes home and I am happy to do so but I dont want to clutter up your competition with countless colour variations.

The concept in design #10 here wonderful. I would love to see the train made more prominent - at a glance, I didn't catch that there was a train, and I'm afraid this might be hard to see in small print. I'd also love to see a duplicate concept with brighter, more playful colors, and maybe a black train instead of the gold.
These are all wonderful. Thanks Brendan. Did you see the new information posted at: http://www.pittsburgfoundation.org/files/BookstoreLogo_Context.pdf? Its worth taking a look at.

Thanks again for the hard work and great designs!

Thank you for providing the color concepts. You have a great eye for color, as the original green might still be my favorite. That said, I love the rich brown in concept 19. Could we try a lighter blue in entry 16 with a black or silver train?

Brendan, if its helpful, other examples of your work that are appealing for this logo include: Munch, Cenosillic, MiSNAC, and CrazyGreen.

Thanks!

This one didn't catch my eye at first, but it is very clear. I could very easily see this being an excellent window sign. A wider, landscape-oriented design might be better suited for a suspended sign and logos. I'd love to see this concept modified a bit.

Hi Caryn
Thanks again for the feedback, which logo were you referring to in your last comment?

Here is a simple black and white version that could be used on packaging, and also for signage like the sandblasted window decal you mentioned. Just so you know we are permitted to supply different versions of the same logo eg a black and white version like this one.

Brendan,
Could you modify entry 23 to include a background shape/color that might allow it to be placed on a sign?
Could you also try a version of 22 and 23 where the train parts are dark brown or bronze?
Thanks!

Could you also try to incorporate a blue, brown, purple, and green color scheme below into entry 22, 23, or 11? The browns and blues should be most prominent, with the purples, greens, and whites serving as accents.

C M Y K - Blue, Purple, Green scheme
68 27 20 0 Blue
72 68 39 23 Dark Purple
55 55 33 7 Light Purple
48 18 67 1 Green
5 4 3 0 White
dark brown
light brown

Thanks!
