This is very interesting. Can you play with the images a little more to call out the definition of the briefs? They look a little like rigatoni (please don't think I'm being flippant, I like the idea, but want the image to be a bit clearer). I'm not sure if that is a stronger outline to their form, a waistband or pin-striping or what, or a "RB" on the cuff of the short, but just a bit more detail so people know immediately what it is.
Also, can can you make the pages appear to have something on them? I don't know if that would work, but a blank piece of paper seems to be the wrong metaphor.
I like all the color options you are showing, but think the alternating slogan (black/color/black/color) works best for me. If i Had to rank the colors, from most favorite to least it would be 108, 107,106, 105.
Anyway, I like this, a serious, yet fun, interpretation of the business name. Keep playing with it and let's see where it goes.
Ha, I see what you mean about the pasta, I defined the briefs a bit more, also added more detail to the design, let me know your thoughts, I really appreciate your feedback!!
Hi, The short definitely look more like shorts and less like pasta. I think that having the paper and the pencil and the letters RB are loading the whole thing down a bit too much. Can we dial it back, go just with the shorts and maybe put a stylized "RB" logo on the shorts themselves (how self-referential!). Let's eliminate everything else for now and focus on making the shorts the centerpiece and defined.
One thought my wife tossed out (we're in this together project-wise) was to see if the background image, instead of an oval, could be a stylized piece of paper, like you had been using, but instead of it being several separate, adjacent images, have the shorts be THE focus, with the container a subtle shape of paper, still using the colors that you have. I hope that makes sense.
Ideally, it would end up where the image could stand alone as a "mark" that would go on a t-shirt, or other promotional item, a la the nike "swoosh" without the word Nike (I can dream big, yes...I know). So, I'm trying to get any design to be concise and direct, but simple enough that it isn't too busy.
Hi, I like 129 very much and 128 is also very close. Two requests. 1) Can you try a non-handwriting font on the cuff of the briefs? Just something san serif, bold enough to read easily. 2) Could we see a version where the layout is more horizontal, with the shorts to the left of the text for those two?
Hi, Just so you know, I extended the contest by 2 days, because I wanted to give you time to respond to the last comment I posted regarding #129. There was one other designer that was up against the deadline and i wanted to make sure that I had time to evaluate the later submissions and for the designers to have a chance to respond. I'm not trying to drag it out, but felt the deadline was too close in this case.
Hi, thanks, I got up a little late and realized I forgot to save the version with the papers *sigh* so I had to redraw the papers. I appreciate the additional time, it really does help.
So, I'm still working my way through this decision. I'm wondering if you could show me 2-3 different type-face options paired with images #149 & 129. I'll leave the recommendations up to you, but something a little less rounded, maybe a little cleaner, more modern with some movement to them. This would help me for comparison's sake.
