Hi, thanks for your submissions (#183, #184, #185, #186). A few comments:
1) We are trying to avoid a logo that primarily resembles the letter Q. We're looking for a powerful abstract image that's instantly eye-catching and unforgettable.
2) The slogan text uses a very plain font and will not do. The company name is better, but still a little lackluster. We would also like to see some subtle shading or other elegant effects on the text.
3) The brushed metal appearance should be more subtle and more realistic. We're looking for something that approaches the realism of an HDR photo, if that helps.
4) We appreciate the binary code idea, but it is a little tacky, and it also is far too small to be printed on a business card with any amount of legibility.
Sorry if this sounds like criticism, but we have less than 24 hours in the contest and we have to be very picky right now. We really hope to see some new ideas from you soon. Thank you!
The idea in #201/#202/#203 of having a colored center in a metal shell is interesting. The holes in the shell, though, look very much like a frowning face, so that definitely needs to change. Perhaps you can have some sort of interesting cut-away? Maybe it cuts into the colored part, too, and reveals something else inside... something mysterious, or digital or scientific? There are a lot of possibilities here. We definitely want to explore this concept. Please submit more ideas!
The text needs work. The company name font is good (except that the "Q" looks ugly) but the styling on it is too forceful. The brushed metal and 3D effects need to be subtle, elegant, and precise. The slogan font is too thin and will not be legible when printed on a business card.
Also, forgot to mention: We need to see any logos on a white background in addition to dark grey.
This is an interesting design with a serious feel to it.
We do have a few issues:
1) The way the metal shell is laid out, along with the two large round holes, makes it too similar to a yin-yang symbol. It is too symmetric.
2) The fine grooves in the shell are not discernible at smaller sizes and are going to be impossible to print accurately on a business card.
3) The text is now worse than before. We asked to make the styling less forceful, not more. 3D effects and gradation need to be very subtle. It needs to look very professional and elegant. The font is also too industrial. It needs to be more mature.
Please keep exploring other ways of expressing the fundamental idea behind these logos. We hope to see updates very soon. Thanks!
