Not sure what you mean by "1980 look." To us, that implies a neo-futuristic style that you might find in Bladerunner. We're looking for a 21st century approach, with crisp lines, elegant surfaces, and lighting that rivals HDR photography. Thanks.
#273 has potential. The internal webbing is definitely an example of a good subtle element that hints at technology.
The exterior shell should be a nice photorealistic brushed metal, complete with high quality lighting and all. The two gaps in it look pretty ugly, though. Can you think of alternative ways of giving the icon some asymmetry and unique elements?
The company name isn't bad. It has nice lighting & gradation, but should probably have a slightly more advanced or technical font. The slogan could stand to be a bit larger and/or wider, and have a little more aggressiveness to it (but not like in #239).
#281 and #283: We're definitely trying to avoid a letterform logo, so a dominant Q shape doesn't work for us. Please look for alternate ways of adding flavor to the image.
The brushed metal needs to look a lot more realistic. The outline seems to be hurting the overall appearance.
